Outdoor things in York area possible in this COVID era

We have a voucher to stay at a hotel in York for two nights. It has to be used by end Nov 2020. There will be DH and I and BIL and SIL. We can eat and drink in the hotel if necessary but our concern is what we will find to do during the day while current restrictions are in place. Obviously we know York normally has lots to offer, but right now?

If it were just DH and I then it would be easy as we like walking and could find something in the area to do with our boots on. However BIL and SIL are not in to that sort of thing.

We don't mind driving up to an hour say and one idea I had was Yorkshire Wildlife Park, But I wondered if anybody could make any other suggestions for attractions for adults that might be open in or within reasonable driving distance of York

Walk the walls
Beningborough Hall has an outpost of the National Portrait Gallery
Castle Howard can get a ticket for just the grounds
York Gin Tour (does pop into pubs for a gin)

Lotherton Hall is open, about a fifteen - twenty minute drive from York. Grounds, woods, take away cafe, penguins and birds.

Day trip to Whitby - Abbey, Town, Lanes, Harbour - charming!

Rievaulx (spelling?) Abbey.

River boat cruise. Book a walking ghost tour. Look round the Minster (spacious enough) There are some nice gardens in Clifton park to walk to. Walking the city walls is great but some parts can be narrow for passing people. Railway Museum is huge and free and not just for kids! Have fun

This is a fun thing to do

Yorkshire Wildlife Park is an hour from York at least, its more of a kids activity i think

Harrogate is lovely - not sure what there is to do outdoors though.

So many things to do!
The walls have reopened as one-way, so no worries about passing people.
Have a look at www.visityork.org/what-is-open-in-York for what is open now and what is due to reopen soon.
Further out of York but well under an hour, the Air Museum, or the Bird of Prey Centre at Helmsley?
But there is masses to do within walking distance in York anyway.

Lavender farm near Malton (take a picnic as the cafe only does snacks), Lotherton Hall near the A1, Yorkshire Farming Museum at Murton Park (just to east of York). Also the Homestead Park and Rowntree Park in York itself are both nice

Wander around the historic streets - you can look at most buildings from the outside like the Merchant Adventurers Hall, Merchant Taylor's Hall etc. Look at the Minster from the outside and Deans Park behind it. Go early in the day (before 10.30 or so) and it will be quiet to look at the Shambles etc. The Museum Gardens and St Mary's Abbey ruins. Riverside walks. Cliffords Tower. As others have suggested the River boat tours and the City Walls - they are one way right now. There's lots to do in York outside.

Harrogate has RHS Harlow Carr but you need to book online. Betty's tea room should be open next to it by then.
