Can’t decide whether to book a holiday or not

Please help me stop dithering - going to book a cheap cottage in Peak District for end of July to go cycling and walking with kids. Feel irresponsible booking whilst we’re still in a pandemic but equally really want a change of scenery! We’d not be eating out etc anyway and be mainly outside activities. What’s the general consensus on going on holiday in the uk right now? I’ve not followed the news much as just tend to read snippets here and there

Holiday accommodation is allowed to reopen from 4 July. Your plan sounds nice.
We’ve booked a holiday cottage in August. We plan to mostly self cater or get take outs. The cottage is on the beach so we don’t have to worry about using public toilets. The beach itself is huge and unlikely to get bournemouth type overcrowding.

That’s what I was thinking re food as our chn are young anyway we don’t tend to eat out too often. Is yours refundable if we get locked down again? I feel like everything is so uncertain which is another reason I’m hesitant to Chuck money at something

I've just booked a few days in Devon in August through Airbnb, I can cancel up to the end of July if I need to...

We all need a change of scene and will be avoiding busy areas.

Ours is refundable up to 14 days before. We plan to keep an eye on the news and if it looks like a new lockdown is likely we will cancel. We’ve also paid by credit card in the hope of some protection there. We are worried about the money (we’ve lost quite a lot on cancelled school trips) but we are also balancing that we really need a change of scene. DH is a teacher so we have to take holidays in the school holiday, we can’t delay until sept/Oct easily.

I think it's so hard at the mo. We all need a change of scenery but I worry that if we book some where (we are thinking of Yorkshire) will the locals be peed off cos we are all coming in, or will they welcome tourism to boost the local economy? I don't want to go to a holiday cottage and receive dirty looks! 😕. Btw Two little boys, the Peak District is beautiful! ☺️☺️

We’re also teachers so have a limited time we can holiday in. Also desperately need a break having not stopped work since February - am tempted to book and cancel like another poster has said if it looks unlikely we can go
