Can anyone recommend a good service station to stop at for lunch around half way between Glasgow and Tamworth? (This will be in the middle of July).

Tebay? (It has ducks!)

I forgot about Tebay, we've stopped there very briefly before.

We're driving down to stay in a lovely converted barn on a working farm for 2 nights and visit Thomas land and CBeebies with our almost 4yo. We've missed our holiday in Portugal so we're very excited we can still take him away somewhere exciting Grin
I think it will be Tebay we'll stop at for a nice lunch on the way down.

Also if you need a quick stop before then. We often use the Todhills Costa just north of Carlisle. It tends to be a lot quieter than the other service stations.

Always Tebay! They are currenltly operating a "quick kitchen" and extending their outdoor seating. Hopefully with the new rules coming in early July you might be able to sit in the cafe area by then.
The Rheged Centre just off the Penrith junction I think is owned by the same people as Tebay (food and branding is all the same) so that's another option. Or a few minutes drive from Junction 40 into Pooley Bridge at the edge of Ullswater is a nice break from the motorway. You'd need to take a picnic or check if the cafes are open by then.
If you need a break further south then Dunham Massey or Tatton Park national trust properties are only a short diversion off the M6.
