Best beaches for body boarding (but not as far as Cornwall)

I think I’m going to try and book a self catering week in the UK for August for me and DD. She loves body boarding, we normally go to Cornwall, but I don’t really want to drive that far this time. We’re in East Anglia, so west Wales also feels like a long way, any recommendations? Ideally I’d like a small town so we could walk to cafes/ restaurants/ take aways and ideally the beach. We’ll have the car.

from my understanding, South Bay beach,Scarborough in yorkshire is meant to be good for body boarding/surfing. obviously it would depend on whereabout you are in East Anglia though as it could be quite a far drive.

Woolacombe in North Devon.. nearly as far as Cornwall though!

You need the Atlantic swell for bodyboarding. So you might struggle if you don’t head to Devon, Cornwall or west Wales...

Croyde, Saunton Sands or Woolacombe.
Croyde is perhaps a place for beginners to avoid in peak times due to how busy it can be, but, if she has the confidence, she’ll love it!
Woolacombeis great for experienced and beginners, as there are lots of surf schools and it stretches for miles, so it’s easy to avoid the crowds if you walk down the beach a bit.
Saunton is an underrated beach, and often overshadowed by Croyde and Woolacombe, but we think it’s really is just as good. Like Woolacombe, the beach stretches as far as the eye can see, so finding your spot isn’t a problem.
