Hi
We would really like to go to wales in August but wondering if it is likely to actually be open and even if we are allowed in will restaurants etc be open?
If you live in Wales what is your view?
Thank you

No idea yet but.....

“The Health Protection (Coronavirus Restrictions) (Wales) Regulations 2020 (“the Main Regulations”) came into force from 4.00p.m. on Thursday, 26 March. They will remain in force, currently until 26 September, but must be reviewed every 21 days, with the first review on 15 April 2020. Although the Main Regulations expire on 26 September 2020, the Welsh Ministers have the power to extend the restrictions under them beyond this period“

I hope the Welsh get the announcement they want. has it been on yet?

Institutkarite · 15/06/2020 16:59

The announcement has been and gone. The excuse for Human life that's known as Mark Drakeford gave a rousing drivelling speech. Complained that he doesn't have regular contact with Westminster.
Unfortunately Wibble Drakeford's phone doesn't appear to be able to make calls, it only receives calls.
Wales is still shut. Nothing has changed. If Drakeford has his way Wales will be closed for the foreseeable future. Dripford will be at his allotment, he'll be tending to his bullshit plants.
Welsh people can only travel for 5 miles, I know farmers that could drive for 5 miles and still be on their farms.

Devlesko · 15/06/2020 17:03

I don't know what to think, tbh.
I'm moving to Wales, not found anywhere yet, and would love to visit and stay with friends.
We are all waiting for Wales to reopen, but I can see why it might not be able to yet.
We would be at friends house, in our own accomodation and their garden, not beaches, or sightseeing. But open up and people from England will be there in their droves, so I can see why not.

Ok worse than I thought 🤦🏻‍♀️

If Westminster announced that devolved Governments would be responsible for furlough monies. Wales and Scotland would be open within 5 minutes.
The devolved Governments are relying on Westminster to fund furlough payments. If they were responsible for the furlough payments, Ha, there would be no fucking money at all.
As long as Westminster are paying to keep Wales shut Dripford will keep it shut.

Looks more positive now?

A formal announcement to be made about wales opening up on July 6

whataboutbob · 21/06/2020 17:37

Can’t come soon enough.

MinnieMountain · 22/06/2020 07:01

We've got a place booked for August and due to no longer being able to see family there (still shielding) we're in the process of booking another cottage for a week.

Serin · 23/06/2020 20:53

Got a cottage booked for end of August. It's in the middle of nowhere but we need a change of scenery.
Hoping we can still go.

whataboutbob · 24/06/2020 21:30

I have a cottage booked in mid August in Pembrokeshire. Due probably to magical thinking on my part, I am afraid to contact the owner and ask if she’s ok to go ahead, in case she changes her mind and tells me she’s not renting it out this year!
