Fun overnight with small kids in Wiltshire/Somerset

Hello, I’m wondering if anyone can recommend a place to stay overnight in Wiltshire/Somerset. We have 3 children (6, 4, 1) and are an outdoorsy family so ideally something quiet and rural. It will be one night of a long road trip and the other nights are budget hotels so hoping for something a bit fun and unusual. Thanks!

Where are you travelling to/from on your journey? Somerset goes west beyond Minehead and Wiltshire south to near the edge of Southampton and north to Swindon, so it's a huge area!
Are you thinking M5 corridor, A303 or something else?

Try The Farm Camp in Winsley just outside of Bath. They do lovely glamping off the beaten track and campfire suppers etc.

Sorry yes M5 corridor ideally. But we don’t mind going a bit off track for the right spot as it’s a long, multi day drive. Thanks for the recommendations so far :)

Mynxie that looks incredible! Have you done it and is it worth the cost?

I haven’t (but I’d love to take the grandchildren one day)

I have visited The Wild Place several times though and it’s great. It’s an off shoot of Bristol Zoo where the animals have so much more room and space. It really is a bit wild without the pristine gardens and pathways of the zoo, but I think that’s why it’s so good. There’s something magical about walking through a wood and coming across cheetahs or Wolves for example so close but safely on the other side of a fence of course! Have a look at their website, they have bears living almost in the wild plus lots of ourdoorsy things to keep everybody happy. It’s not run for profit and the animals are really well cared for.

I see the price includes a visit to the zoo too so it includes a couple of days entertainment if you can spare the time. The last time I looked it was getting really good reviews but I’m sure you’d like to check them for yourself in case anything has changed!

I have no suggestions to compete with The Wild Place!

Sadly my kids too old for it now, but I think it sounds wonderful. In my day it was which steam railway/farm to choose from (which was why I asked direction as that could be done in several places).
