I want to book a holiday cottage for Easter and would love to go to Cornwall - having looked at St Ives would that have enough for children to do?

They get bored v quickly unfortunately 😬😬

Bude has quite a lot to offer. There are a couple of play areas, a tropical leisure centre with wave machine and flume and Harlequinns Leisure which has ten-pin bowling and glo-bowling, plus a huge indoor children’s play zone with six levels. There’s a traditional cinema near by, as well as The Milky Way and The Big Sheep amusement parks.

St Ives is a good base for children and if the weather is good they will have more than enough to do! (In rain all of Cornwall is a bit bleak...) the nice thing about st ives is that there are plenty of beaches, all slightly different and pointing different ways. My kids prefer Porthmeor, but I grew up on Carbis Bay beach which you can get to on the train (a few minutes), or even by walking from St Ives. Activities for kids are rockpooling, paddling, sandcastles, swimming/bodyboarding (can hire stuff). Our kids love the artisan bakery on fore street, and there are plenty of shops. Flambards (Helston) is worth a day trip for a reasonably priced semi-good theme park. Lots of fun. Easter will be busy, but there is a reasonable chance of good weather

I expect it’s fully booked, but this is the place you need.

Think I prefer st Ives to Bude. There is a lot to do. St Micheals mount, Eden project, Beach The outdoor theatre. Padstow.

St Ives can be very busy at peak times, parking is a nightmare and is a long way into Cornwall. Where are you travelling from? We have had lovely hols at the Maenporth Estate near Falmouth. Indoor pool on site, tennis courts, nice gastropub and beach in walking distance. Falmouth has lovely restaurants and the maritime museum. Eden project, Heligan not too far away.

Whilst we loved Bude its a bit more remote, but we found plenty to do, good surfing swimming in sea pool, beach etc
Stayed here rented the whole house

We prefer the south coast area around Looe as its easy to get into Plymouth ( a city with indoor mini golf, escape rooms, aquarium, good places to eat out etc) and the sea. We stayed HERE huge indoor games barn for the children and farm animals when ours were younger and they really enjoyed it.

Remmy123 · 24/02/2020 16:09

@mummymeister I have just got quotes for there - do you think enough for 11 and 8 year olds? Thanks

Yes we always found loads to do in the area. If you ask them they will send you lists and links.
