Hi. I’m a single parent. The past 2 years since I’ve been split from my ex I have taken my girls away. First year park resorts holiday and last year butlins. They are 17, 13 and 5. Both were goos holidays and I took them out a lot when we did park resorts but at butlins we stayed on resort and it got a bit boring.
I have this dream of taking them to centre parks but it’s so expensive and you have to pay the whole amount when booking. Or I would love to take them to Disneyland Paris but not sure I’m confident to do that on my own...
Just wondering if anyone can recommend anything?
Thanks

If the Park Holidays trip was a success, why not go for another holiday park in an area that has lots of places to go for daytrips nearby. We've always enjoyed the West Country as well as Yorkshire Coast & Northumberland. You don't give a budget, but there are some nice parks that have lodges instead of caravans if you want something a bit more upmarket - try Hoseasons or Forest Holidays for ideas. I agree Center Parcs is overpriced and overrated and there's not really anywhere nearby to go to off-site. I believe the European ones are cheaper so might be worth a look though. Lastly, you could always book a cottage in an area with lots to do but you might find that a bit isolating if you are looking for entertainment & facilities.

Firstly its great that you are taking them as its often easier not to, but when they are big they will remember every holiday but not the clothes they wore or the car they went in.
Disneyland I am sure the 17 year old would help as it would be such an adventure?

We are big fans or North Wales as it has so much to do both paid and free.
We stopped going to centre parks as its so expensive, we didn't feel it was good value. At Winfel Forest near the lakes all the activities on offer where available out side of the park for half the price.
Lots of ideas here

Have you considered a road trip?
York to see the sights then a couple of places on the coast?
Liverpool then North Wales, Liverpool can be done on the cheap if you stay outside of the city

If you stay near Windsor you could easily do Thorpe Park( assuming you have a car ) , it would be a total waste of money paying for your two older dc to go to Legoland . I’m not a single parent but have always taken mine away on my own when they were younger I use to do theme park tours in the uk and we’ve done DLP a lot .

Agree that there's not much for teenagers at Legoland, but Thorpe Park is always a teenager pleaser.
In the Summer months Windsor has 'liquid leisure' a water park on a lake which I'm sure your teenagers especially would love.
You could watch the Windsor guard march outside Windsor castle.
There's also boat rides along the river to Marlow or Henley which are both nice destinations for a day out.
15 mins car ride from Windsor is Bracknell which has 'Coral Reef', an indoor pool with lots of flumes and also the Discovery Centre is across the road, a fab indoor outdoor place that your 5yr old would love ( lots of hands on science museum type activities.

Windsor is also not far from London so you could take a day trip or two there depending on how long your holiday is? Would probably take a train in from Windsor rather than drive. Tonnes to do for all ages in London.

Windsor is also near the coral reef pool in Bracknell as well as the castle. Trips to London etc.

What about a trip to London? Lots of free stuff to do and if you stay slightly out of the centre and travel in accommodation is much cheaper too.

We enjoyed White Cross Bay in the Lake District.

Warmwell has a dry ski slope, so teenagers could have lessons. Also lots of outdoor pursuit type places nearby. When we went we had a picnic breakfast at Durdle Door (went early to avoid the crowds).

Finlake looks lovely as a centre parcs alternative.

Have a look at potters resort in norfolk.
We go on their family breaks once a year with a big family group ages 1-80 there really is something for everyone.
Loads of activities all included in the price,Segway's, off road petrol carts, archery, golf, football classes, assault course, climbing wall, badminton, quizzes and loads more.
It's full board and 4 meals a day, lovely food served to you at a allocated table in one of the restaurants ( this table is yours for your whole stay so no queueing for a table).
It's not cheap but as everything is included in the price you hardly need any money once your there unlike centre parks it great value for money.
They don't advertise as most of the guest are return customers and they even have a waiting list for the new year break.
Worth a look we love it
