Bluestone - is it worth it?

Has anyone been in school holidays and was it worth it? We are looking for an Easter break with grandparents and thought Bluestone might be good! We have previously been to Center Parcs many times and enjoy it there (although it can be eye watering my expensive).

The prices for Easter at Bluestone are even more. It’s over £2,000 for a 3 bedroom place for a week. Is this just the going rate? Is it actually as marvellous as that price would imply?

We went 4-5 years ago. The cabin was tired - definitely due for renovation. The wifi didn't work upstairs. There was nowhere in the bathrooms to dry any bath towels let alone swimming towels. We couldn't eat out in the evening as the restaurants were all booked out weeks in advance. That said, the classes we'd booked were good, the inside barn/softplay/climbing thing was good, the pool was good and the golf cart was blooody amazing.

We went during the wettest half term known to man, we couldn't even dry coats or shoes as there was no space so overall I remember it as damp and cold and the fact the wifi didn't work and the oven was broken and the kitchen had only 5 plates and one wooden spoon and we'd had to hang wet coats off the back of every chair - I wouldn't go again. I'd hire a golf cart tomorrow though Grin

The thing with Bluestone is that there is so much more to do in the local area than centre parcs (disclaimer: I only went to Longleat other CP might be better placed) you are so near beautiful places like Tenby, Saundersfoot, Solva).

Go to Butlins! I is amazing! They are having a January sale probably could go for about $700. Yeay!

We stay at Kiln Park Haven caravan site in Tenby. It's an easy walk to the town centre/beaches and there's also a free bus if you don't want to walk. It's a quiet, clean site. You have the pool and entertainment centre. We don't do the evening entertainment but still love it there. We drove to Bluestone one day from Haven to use their brilliant pool but prefer Haven as it's so close to the town centre.

Thanks all! Hmmm sounds like it may not be worth it! Butlins and Haven in Tenby sound interesting!! Will have a look. Butlins is also around £2k for a week (more like £1,800 but still) so may do a thread to see if that’s worth it either!

We got food poisoning there. Would not recommend.

Butlins is fab, but pick your dates carefully. We usually aim for the less popular weeks on the Feb or October half-term (most of the activities are indoor, so weather is only a consideration for the fairground and climbing frames).

Haven do have some good deals on at the moment and the Isle of White is a lovely place to visit at Easter. Another option if you are close to the coast is to consider Eurocamps - they are reasonably priced if you can make the cost of travel work for you.

We love bluestone! It's on a hillside so if grandparents have trouble getting around make sure you advance book a golf buggy

I begrudge paying the current Bluestone prices because I remember going there when it first opened for free! I’m sure I went two or three times on free weekends “won” on Twitter.

Since then I have paid no more than £350 for a weekend break. I would never pay £2000 for Bluestone, it just isn’t worth it. But then I’m struggling to imagine what UK Easter break would attract me for £2k, the answer is nowhere.

We love the pool at Bluestone. If I really wanted a break in west Wales I would head to Llangrannog, my favourite place in Wales.

Or so centre parcs Europe

I hated Bluestone, the accommodation was lovely (we had a very new lodge, possibly 5 bed?) but everything else was a bit crap. The pool had lots of offsite people coming in so felt over crowded, it had loud music playing, crap restaurants (we asked for the wine list and were told "red or white") and the shop is tiny and basic like a newsagent rather than a shop. Everything was miles away on roads that constantly had a stream or cars or golf buggies flying round so not safe for smalls on bikes. I wouldn't go back again.
