Holidays with teenagers

Any ideas for a UK holiday for a mini break with teenagers aged 15 & 13.

I did look at Centre Parcs but it's £1200 for 5 days, £400 the week after half term but that's a whole other thread!

Budget including spending is about £1000 ish, I really want to get them up and off their computers/phones, well as much as I can Smile

My teens love a countryside cottage so there are lots of opportunities for dog walks and bike rides. Ideally you want a small village with a cafe within a half hour - hour walking distance. The Peak District or Lake District are obvious ones. The National Forest is often overlooked but has a lot going on.

I meant to also say, we book through Sykes.

Haven? Some of the larger sites have lots of stuff to do.

I never thought of the Lake District, that's a really good idea, pre kids we always went there.

Mine enjoyed climbing Snowdonia and there was very patchy reception in Wales so little time spent on mobilesWink

Yes I always do the country cottage too. Have a look at what is on offer in the local leisure centre near the cottage too. On previous holidays we have done a climbing wall and sliding down tube slides at the local pool. They might exist near home but holiday is the only time mine would do them.

And pack the Uno, Articulate and `Exploding Kittens for the evenings.

Sorry meant to say also - kayaking/canoeing on a local river or lake is also a hit

The New Forest is great if they are into cycling. We've found camping to be the best way to get kids away from gadgets.

If you could go outside of the Uk Duinrell in Holland is really great for teenagers and very easy to drive to. We got a week for £600 one Easter in a Eurocamp caravan. We've been twice and the kids loved it.

I'm liking the idea of Wales with patchy mobile signals Wink

Thank you everyone for the ideas 😎

Not sure what time of year you're going but cottages near lots of outdoorsy stuff are good (particularly loved Northumberland). We also had a great few days in Edinburgh (went on train & stayed in Premier Inn). Mine are similar ages so have outgrown Haven and the like but would use as a cheap base.

I would do North Wales, with a few adventure type activities thrown in.

Signal on Snowdon is fab! So don't do that. There are other places in Snowdonia that has less signal. Cwm Idwal is a basin with zero signal. Easily walked. Walk from there down to Bangor on the Roman road. Lovely walks on less populated mountains. Anglesey costal walk, llandudno, Surf Snowdonia, list is endless
