Few hours in London between Christmas & New Year with teens (not skating!)

It's DH:s birthday between Christmas & New Year. We live in the London suburbs so can be in town within the hour. As we won't have had a chance this year to go into London before Christmas, DH wants to go on his birthday. Plan is to head up late morning/early pm, spend a few hours then head back early evening and stop at favourite curry house on our walk back from the tube rather than eat in town.

We will have a look at the lights (prob Oxford St or Covent Garden) but would like to actually DO something. We're not keen on ice skating and have done Up at The O2 & The Cablecar. Would be grateful for any inspiration! Thank youSmile

My DH really wants to see this exhibition www.vam.ac.uk/exhibitions/cars

Thank you both - the Gingerbread Exhibition looks great, DH & DS would like the car one, not so sure about the rest of us though!

A Christmas Carol (the play) is amazing if you can get tickets.

There's also a market at the moment on at Southbank.

We did a great escape room on Oxford Street today (Escapeland).

Lights at Kew?

Came on to suggest Gingerbread City too, I took my little ones but am sure my teen would have enjoyed it too. Their workshops are huge fun. Here's a link to my blog review: museummum.com/2019/12/15/gingerbread-city-2019-with-kids/

Thank you so much @museummumblog. I have booked the gingerbread city. One of my teens is transport mad so I'm sure he'll love it. May I ask how long to allow for the exhibition so I can plan the rest of the afternoon? We're not doing a workshop. Thanks again!

I would say an hour or so would be perfect - enough to take in the detail. If he's into transport, have you been to the London Transport Museum before? Lots of old underground trains and buses, and the history of London's transport over the last 200 years.

Thank you, that's helpful. Yes, have been to the transport museum a few times, loves it. Postal Museum also good, especially Mail Rail!
