Going there to meetup with 2 American friends.

They are new to the UK and both university professors (teaching college courses in Birmingham for a term)

I will have my 2yo in tow. We are depending on public transport and taxi.

HELP. I don't have a clue and neither do they.

is it bourneville college or Birmingham Uni?

Any way- you can get a train from there direct into the city centre.

City centre has a lovely regenerated canal area with lots of canalside restaurants-
(my boys love to watch the canal boats)
There is also the Bull Ring for shopping ( at the moment they have a 'fake beach' there over looking St Martins church.

Also in town there is the Museum and Art Galleries by the town hall- its very nice around that area, lots of water fountains.

The Think TAnk (MAssive Science museum) very interesting

some stuff here www.visitbritain.co.uk/destinations/England/heart-of-england/Birmingham.aspx?searchparam=birmingham

this is a fab site birmingham

there is a direct train link from bham uni to city centre- takes about 10 mins.

Birmingham uni also has lots of things on campus worth looking at-

such as Barber Institute of Fine Art
www.barber.org.uk/

And the Winterbourne Gardens

( Its the uni that I go to! Barber insitute is lovely- very interesting and im not an arty person)

Those back to backs that MT mentioned are fantastic. Attention to detail is marvellous.

Birmingham is a fab city Kiskidee, so much money ploughed into it over recent years.

I watched a holiday prog with that Laurence Llewellyn bloke a few months ago and he did a weekend break in birmingham.

I said to DP- If I didnt already live here- I would love to come here for the weekend and do touristy things.

have a fab time.
