Cutty Sark

Heading to London at the weekend, DP loves history/ships/space so wants to go the maritime museum and observatory, Is it worth paying to go around/on the Cutty Sark, there will be Dp, Ds (6 y/o) and myself. Neither DS or myself really enjoy history type things and much prefer interactive/pushing buttons type places like the science museum and I'm wondering if DS will just get bored doing too much 'dry' stuff.

There are some lovely playgrounds in Greenwich park so you and DS could go there while your DP looks around Cutty Sark. I haven't visited it in it's capacity as a museum, but I was there a couple of years ago to see a comedy gig and I was very impressed with it. The displays are interesting and the ship itself is very atmospheric, I don't think it's particularly interactive though.

The Museum of London in Docklands has a bit called Mudlarks that is hands on for young children. It's about 6 short stops on the DLR from Greenwich, or walk through the Greenwich foot tunnel, look at the Caravagio (sp?) view from the south side of the tunnel and take the DLR from Island Gardens.

Canaletto not Caravaggio, I know very, very little about art history, can you tell?

Yes, as a pp suggested, let your dh do the Cutty Sark and you could head to the nearby Maritime Museum (free) which has an interactive children's section. One exit from the museum leads to the park and the children's playground which is fab. By the time you've done all of that, your dh will have had a good look around the Cutty Sark.

Thank you all, we decided to give cutty Sark a miss, enjoyed the rest of the day and wouldn't have had time to do it anyway !

The Cutty Sark is really quite small and doesn’t take long to go round,
