OMG my worst nightmare, am afraid of farm animals, could think of nothing worse LOL.

tiredemma · 13/08/2007 20:58

it was the accom that was the best, Im bit scared of four legged friends also- but the accom was lovely!

It looks really nice, quite fancy a weekend doing this. Am off to investigate further!

hertsnessex · 13/08/2007 21:31

oh, have sent off for a brochure - looks a fab idea.

looked really good on the news last night, they had about 8 of these 'tents' in a big massive field, all the children playing in the field in front of the tents. Looked wonderful

It is great. Have left some comments here.
Don't worry, no roaming animals poking their heads into tents!

AbbyMumsnet · 09/10/2007 14:45

Happycampers - why not post a review on the camping reviews section? FWIW, I've reviewed the Cornwall based one here

happycampers · 09/10/2007 20:17

Have been wondering how you got on Abby. Great isn't it? We must get booked up for next year, though a toddling DS could be a bit more challenging!

Will do a review soon, comping is a good incentive!!

oatcake · 09/10/2007 20:23

No-one's mentioned the price yet!

I looked into this place last year and was very shocked about how much they wanted to charge for a camping hol...

Otherwise gorgeous! We must have similar taste TE!

tiredemma · 09/10/2007 20:27

I would LOVE to do it, the brochure is fab and the beds look amazing!

Re. price just done an online quote. Did it for Lincolnshire for weekend in April.

For a tent for 2 adults, 1 child inc bed linen and insurance it is £278

So it is pretty expensive for a weekend in a tent, although looks lovely.

AbbyMumsnet · 09/10/2007 21:53

The tents are just fantastic though - so really would recommend.

tiredemma · 10/10/2007 07:58

They are not 'tents' as such though are they- dont they have part timber?

I love the little cabin bed for the kids.

Really hoping to do this next summer.

AbbyMumsnet · 10/10/2007 09:32

They're like big army tents - but with wooden floors and a few wooden bits (the loo; the canopy bed; some shelves made out of old fruit boxes). Absolutely magical, tbh.

oreGOREnianabroad · 10/10/2007 09:44

sounds really fun.

happycampers · 10/10/2007 12:52

May seem a bit expensive i suppose if there is just three of you, although it is for 3 nights and you only really need to bring your own food as all kitchen equipment etc is provided. Another upside is the amount of space and p[rivacy. There were only 5 tents in the field at our site, as opposed to a regular campsite where pitches may be cheek by jowl, so I suppose to a degree you are paying for exclusivity.

The experience is magical though, can't really think of an equivalent holiday. The kids adore the cabin bed and loved collecting the eggs. Will def go again.

oreGOREnianabroad · 10/10/2007 15:47

i need help convincing dh we should do this on a whim during half term... he wants to wait till next year.

AbbyMumsnet · 10/10/2007 16:03

This half term? It's just been in Conde Nast and Vogue, so you might be hard pressed to find availability

But if you can... DO IT! Doesn't really matter if weather's a bit off - tents are wonderfully snug.

oreGOREnianabroad · 10/10/2007 16:19

Just been on their website, seems like there is still availability??????

AbbyMumsnet · 10/10/2007 16:34

Which one are you thinking of visiting?

oreGOREnianabroad · 10/10/2007 16:44

the dolfin one

oreGOREnianabroad · 10/10/2007 16:44

Dolphinholme

AbbyMumsnet · 10/10/2007 18:35

Looks gorgeous. If you do go, please post a review on your return! Also, just a gentle reminder to everyone that, if you read a review that you find helpful, please tick the box below it to say so- it's good to get feedback on what sort of information is working and what isn't!

happycampers · 10/10/2007 21:59

Conde NASte and Vogue. Wow, first time I've been a trendsetter as did this yoooonks ago!

oreGore - will this help to convince DH - kids are low maintenance as can run around digging for bugs, checking on hens and generally having a high old time doing very little. Mulled wine by candle light round the woodburning stove of an evening is very romantic and the duvets very snuggly. He can also indulge his inner caveman by lighting the fire for his family each morning.

Have fun if you do go.
