DH, me and our terrier are off to Kings Lynn for three much-needed days next week. As we don’t know the area what would you recommend, given that we will only have two full days and one half day? We would like beach, sightseeing and walking if possible, though we do know that some beaches aren’t dog friendly during the summer. We have a car, and are staying near King’s Lynn. Thanks everyone!

Holkham and Wells are both dog friendly. So is Brancaster.

Dogs are allowed on the North Norfolk Railway which runs between Sheringham and Holt. Sheringham has an amazing old fashioned station, with vintage signs, suitcases and a cafe. The walk down to the seafront is lined with all kinds of gift shops and eateries, it’s a real new meets old seaside town, with something for everyone. There are several dog friendly pubs in Sheringham. We like The Lobster Inn and dogs are allowed anywhere inside.

Dogs are allowed on Bean’s Boats, a company which runs seal watching boat trips with amazing scenery from Blakeney. Cley beach at Blakeney is dog friendly all year round, and it’s the starting point of the beautiful Blakeney Point Coastal Path. There are lots of eating places which welcome dogs. The White Horse Pub is a lovely gastropub where they always make the dogs really welcome. Dogs are allowed in the bar area. The Grey Seal Coffee shop is very dog friendly and does great coffee and chocolate brownies. Food at the Quay-a selection of vans serving freshly prepared food including breakfast baps, crab sandwiches and teas & coffees. Very popular with dog walkers.

There is a regular bus service Coast Hopper which runs along the coast so it is good for doing the coast path as you don't have to retrace your steps. We walked from Weybourne to Cromer along the coast path and then took the bus back.

Sandringham is not far from Kings Lynn and also Blickling Hall

It all sounds wonderful - thank you all very much for the suggestions. Let’s hope the weather holds out now (pouring rain here today in SE).

North Norfolk is amazing and very dog friendly. We have been going the last few years and in fact are going again in a couple of weeks with dc and the dog.
Brancaster is our fave and a great all round beach.
Holkham lovely and very pretty.
Holme -next -the sea is practically deserted and lovely sandy dunes.
It's a lovely place!!
