Just wondered really. Have paid about £700 for a midweek break in Whinfell forest ( loved the idea of Owl observing etc for ds)which had no problem with but after going through activities to prebook last night it is possibly going to cost another £300 on top for things like pony trekking, teddy bears picnic, looking at hedgehogs, cycle hire and admittedly £100 for dual massade for dh and I. I just think it is so much money and it doesn't include food or petrol! I just think it is cheeky charging so much for all the activities.
I am not tight but now I understood why my parents used to stress about holidays and why we couldn't have that 5th drink!!!

I think it is expensive as our accomodation was CRAP. However we are going back at the end of Nov as we got some money off and it was such an easy holiday with children. This time we have bikes to take and I am taking our holiday money to M&S to buy in posh ready meals and wine. DH and I can't wait now. I can't see us ever going once dd1 starts school in Jan though. I will not pay the school holiday prices unless this forthcoming trip is amazing. We don't do any of the extras either. We had plenty to do without them as the pool area was great. We did pay for 10 pin bowling.

Well expensive but DP has just got a job with them : ) free for us to go in when we like for the day or v. cheap holidays

We did CP Holland in August in a 7 days in a VIP villa with fresh bread rolls delivered daily, 25 euros to spend in the supermarket all for the bargain price of £700! We paid £50 each to fly return to amsterdam.

We went a Centre Parcs in Germany and paid in euros what we would have paid in pounds in Britain. Get the impression it is much better value in Europe. Had a great holiday and went with MIL - couldn't have imagined saying that if we'd gone anywhere else! It is a bit like Butlins, but somehow it's more tolerable if you are surrounded by foreigners than by Brits! Would definitely self cater though - the food was rubbish and that was over-priced!

It is very overpriced, and unless you pay out even more for luxury accomadation, it is very basic. (we didn't even get provided with any toilet roll!)
I went with my parents, and dad went mad & asked if he could be upgraded to a prison cell!!

Agree, you just pay to walk or ride wobbly bikes with no gears aimlessly around the parc. Then you get to watch other people doing activities that are all fully booked because there are too many people on parc.
A big massive rip off

We've just booked a trip in a centre parks in Germany - were paying 140 euros (less then 100 pounds) for 5 nights. I suspect we'll have to bring our own toilet roll.

I did a mid week term time with a deal, six people for £300 for four days. We had a fabulous time and it was very good value for money. Nobody forces you to pay a man to waffle on about owls for 20 mins. The owls are there anyway, you can see them for free.

Which one is it Belgo? We had the basic accommodation in Hochsauerland and it was great - I was really surprised how big and clean our house was (and there was plenty of loo roll!!)

belgo · 19/10/2007 11:45

we're going to Heilbachsee, near Cologne
