I know this is a daft question but what is the best way to find a cheap cottage on the internet?

I want 2 weeks, mid september, somewhere warm where there is a beach.

I don't want and also can't pay lots of money but it is my 30 bday and dp has a bday also and I'd like somewhere nice.

I don't really stretch to cottages most of the time-we just camp.

So. What do I do? I am worried that if I just google I will somehow pay extra.

I need a roof, enough beds for 4 people but not bunks (or else space to put out airbeds), somewhere to cook and somewhere to knit. And a beack to fly my kite on. Thats all.

Thoughts?

Filly - look at my profile. I have put on a couple of pics of what I refer to as my November retreat. No beach sadly, but it is cheap - £150 a week (admittedly that is in November but it's not too much more in season).

It's a working mini-farm/smallholding with rare breed cows, sheep and hens.

Sleeps 6.

Can do you kite flyers paradise for £20 per night, also sleeping 6 with a massive garden overlooking fields and horses. But it is East Coast and a million miles from you.

sorry to hijack thread but how do you find out about deals with Travel Lodge Portonovo. Want to book one of the London ones during August/Sept but can't find any mention on their website. Thanks

Hill End Farm here - not the original website I had saved so I can put you directly in touch which should save a booking cut. However, it is int he Staffordshire Peaks so that will also be a mega long journey for you I think. By the way, the decoration in the bedroom shown is Truly Horrible
They do have dogs and I have it in mind that you are scared of dogs - they are extremely well behaved dogs though, and won't bother you unless you invite them to do so. In fact Jack, the older one, even after encouraging him will only ever come close emough to roll the ball back to you for you to throw it.

The one on the East Coast is owned by a friend of a friend and the £20 is all inclusive. (It was £10 a night last year, but hey ho!) Its in a rural part of Lincolnshire bewteen Mablethorpe and Cleethorpes so it's not the East Coast you were thinking of! It is possible to avoid all the Skegness hideousness - I have added another photo on my profile of a beautiful beach called Moggs Eye which is one up from Anderby Creek - the photo was taken Friday just gone, so you will note the School Holiday rush and the fact you could barely get on the beach

Travelodge - if you go on their home page there are some links to £15 and £26 deals at the moment. Click on those and you can search for specific dates or areas. You can put a date in and get all hotels shown if you're not bothered where you go.

Have to warn you though, the good deals are harder to find in London or anywhere else that is really popular, but we have managed it sometimes. It helps if you are flexible as to date and particular hotel. Saturday nights are often harder to get, but Friday and Sundays much easier. We've even moved from one hotel to another nearby after a day or two just to get another special deal.

winestein - spend many a lovely day at Anderby Creek and Moogs Eye with the kids digging on the beach and paddling.

wino you are a star, am routeplannering now to see if its do-able. is this your november retreat or the kite place?

dogs are fine really. no issue with trained/well behaved dogs at all.
