So I'm planning ahead, holidays all ready had / booked for this year, I'm planning 2020 !! Have read lots of good things about the Isle of Wight, can people tell me about it? What accommodation is best for family of 6? 2 teens and 2 primary age kids. What is there to do ? Is it better in May half term or August? We are in the North, so what would be the best way for us to get there? Don't really fancy driving, so train or fly and ferry,?? Is that even possible? Thanks Smile

In order to get to the Isle of Wight from London, passengers need to catch one of the regular trains to Portsmouth. South Western Railway run the most direct service between Waterloo and Portsmouth Harbour, with most journeys onlyan hour and 40 minutes long. You will bedropped right outside the FastCat terminal to Ryde, and a short walk away from the car ferry terminal to Fishbourne.
Island Line run a train service on the east between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin also serving the towns of Brading, Sandown and Lake. It’s 30 minutes to get from Ryde to Shanklin and it runs every half hour.
Lower Hyde holiday park is less than half a mile from Shanklin station. It’s about 3 minutes in a taxi! It’s close to two beautiful beaches. Accommodation is a mixture of lodges and caravans, both of which have 3 bedroom options. There’s an indoor and an outdoor heated swimming pool with water slide.
