Tube travel with kids aged 7 & 9

Sorry if this has been answered before but couldn't find anything & the info on the TFL website isn't that helpful.

I'm visiting London in a couple of weeks with my two sons 7 & 9. We're getting the train down to Kings Cross & will then be travelling onwards to stay with friends in Richmond & then travelling back into Central London the day after to do some activites.

I would normally just use a contactless card to tap in & out on the tube, but how does it work for the kids? Do I need to buy them a travel card or can I use the same contactless card to pay for them?

Just done a bit more googling & actually found clearer information on this website:

www.visitlondon.com/traveller-information/getting-around-london/do-kids-need-an-oyster-card

TFL really need to improve their info! It implies I need to order an Oyster Zip card for them on their site, but seems this is not needed if I'm with them.

They travel free on the tube. They won't need an Oyster.

Either use hte barrier next to the staff member who will just let you all through once you have tapped in, or find the large barrier used for those with luggage, tap your contactless for yourself, and you should all be able to fit through.

Go to a larger gate, tap in or out and have a quick dash through. Kids don't pay on the tube.
