Cornwall - Somewhere like St Agnes

We went to St Agnes at Easter this year and loved it, I would like to try somewhere else next April (been twice to St Agnes) and not sure where to look that might be similar ish?

We like small ish, quaint, near sea / beach with good walks and a few cafes etc close ish. Don't need a resort type place. We went to Newquay and Perranporth whilst there this time and didn't like either at all...we also went to St Ives which although was pretty was so busy we really didn't enjoy it.

Any suggestions of villages to look into? I have seen Mousehole mentioned and thought that might be an option?

Have a look at Gorran Haven on the south coast. It meets all your requirements and is also close to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Mevagissey.

Portreath has a very friendly atmosphere and caters for most needs of tourists, whilst not being over-commercialised.
Mawgan Porth and the village of St Mawgan.
The South West Coast Path national trail runs through Cadgwith which is a very pretty cluster of thatched cottages. There are 2 beaches; The Cove and Little Cove, separated by a rocky promontory called The Todden. A passage leads directly through the rock of The Todden and links the 2 beaches. Cadgwith has a timeless feel, as if the passing years have somehow missed this tiny fishing village. Fresh crab is for sale at a shop by the harbour, and you can sit and watch fishermen unload their catches or mend crab pots. The local pub (The Cadgwith Cove Inn) is known for it's singing of Cornish songs on a Friday evening.
Polperro

Porthleven, not far from Helston, has an arty vibe and lots of little shops and cafés.
St Mawes is nice and you can get the boat across the river to and from Falmouth, which is an attractive, lively town without being too, umm, Newquay-ish.
Cadgwith is tiny! And quite an adventure driving down to it.
My favourite village is Coverack but I wouldn't go in high season.

Crantock

All of the places mentioned are lovely. South coast is less surf-y so if you surf stick to the north coast.

Also look at Marazion, Mevagissey, Portloe. Fowey is lovely but bigger/busier than Aggie.

I second Marazion, Fowey & Meva!

Coverack or Fowey.

St Mawes is lovely but a small town and had a mind of Padstow parking crazyness to it. I like Porthcurno for something smaller and more intimate. Closer to nicer beaches too.

Agree with Porthleven, very picturesque and arty vibe.
Cadgwith is lovely, not touristy and the pub singing is great, but it is small and quite isolated.
I love Mousehole, it is so pretty and quaint, but the traffic in and out in the summer is not fun.

Tintagel, it's absolutely beautiful.
reputedly the home place of king Arthur.

swissmilk · 24/07/2019 08:25

I like Rock.
Near to Padstow and loads of lovely beaches.

What time of year? I’m assuming soon, but it makes a difference if you’re coming to a small place between nov-March as bits will be shuttered for winter.

All the places mentioned above are great, esp st Mawes, porthleven, mevagissey, gorran. But they’ll all be rammed in their own way for the next six weeks.

There are some lovely suggestions here op, you'll be spoilt for choice!
