If I'm feeling a bit glum then this is where i go - the webcam I mean

I do like it when there is one solitary walker and their dog ambling along in the shallows.

SpookyMadMummy · 24/07/2007 20:44

at that webcam!
last year we stayed at a campsite on a farm near Llangernyw, was fab. Kids got up and went off to see the sheep being rounded up...
We went all round North Wales to many of the places mentioned on this thread... and I wanna go back! Can't manage it this year, maybe a fortnight next year!!!

moondog · 24/07/2007 20:46

We forget that these things are so lovely when we live here.

Lol at kids enjoying seeing the sheep rounded up.I am surrounded by sheep on all four sides and get to enjoy a daily sheepdog training session every evening at the moment.

My kids couldn't care less.I call for them every time the shepherd comes and they ignore me.

pmsl! Shall we do a kid swop???

pooka · 24/07/2007 20:51

That's great Lucycat! God it was beautiful.

Was there for my Great Uncle's memorial service at some hidden away church (ST. Tudwen?) and it was so peaceful and calm there.

Great pub.

we had a week camping there last month, had a really lovely time our 2yrold ds loved it,especially the train, but that is quite pricey. also Portmerion was great

lots of sandcastles were built at criccieth albeit in full waterproofs!
love the sound of some of those quiet beaches, will try those next time.

puffling · 25/07/2007 11:46

Thanks for all ideas. Moondog- I will seek out the crab man. How do you cook a crab, by the way?
The forecast is currently saying rain every day!! What good indoor things do people know about?

There a "Sea Zoo" on Anglesey that ds enjoyed when he was about 4.

catandmouse · 25/07/2007 20:45

we did the portmerion trip in the rain, with our waterproofs on it was still fun. The train journeys- ffestiniog or west coast would do most of a day. Hope you get some more suggestions!

puffling · 25/07/2007 21:30

Thanks for both suggestions.

Oh this thread is fantastic, I'm loving reading about all the places DH and I have visited over the years. Best of all we love Aberdaron - at the tip of the peninsula - nice pub, good crab and lovely little chapel on the edge of the beach - you get a real feel of being on the edge of the world looking out ot sea from Aberdaron. Great for camping and cycling and exploring. We last stayed there 2 years ago on the cliff overlooking the bay to Ynys Enlli - we saw seals. We were always keener on the north side of the peninsular which was quieter than the south and the landscape was more rugged.

Have a wonderful holiday Puffling.

My childhood memories of Criccieth are that it is bloody pebbly. My heart used to sink when my parents announced we were going there, instead of Black Rock or Borth y Gest!

pinkyminky · 25/07/2007 22:28

OOh yes Borth is lovely. Our Jack Russell(rip)used to love digging on the beach- the centre for alternative technology is a good visit- as is Machynlleth itself.
