Centre parcs Sherwood Forrest without a car

We've booked into Sherwood Forrest centre parcs later this month but don't have a car. We're planning on getting the train to Newark then taking a taxi to the centre parcs. I've never been to one before, is this a feasible way to get there? The other option would be to pick up a hire car in Newark, but that seems like a huge waste if we can't use the car during that week.

Hi OP I live a few miles from there, taxi from Newark will take 30 minutes tops and cost maybe £20. I’d advise pre booking the taxi though as Newark is a small station and there are rarely taxis hanging around.

Hoping someone can come along and help but I can't imagine it is to be honest, the lodges are a fair walk from where you 'check in'. Also you can queue for a long time in the car waiting to check in which is done whilst your in the car.

Also mostly in the evening you drive to the Lodge and drop your things off at around 3? Most people arrive at 10 and spend the day there with bags in the car.

Dont know about sherwood. We went to Woburn without a car. There was a special Center parcs bus shuttle from nearest station - they seemed quite set up for us to arrive like that. Perhaps something similar for you? Yes it was a bit (a lot!) of a walk to cabin but hey ho, perfectly doable

It’s lovely arriving there without a car - they made a fuss of us and the kids at the entrance lodge and we got a CP van ride to our lodge with our luggage. If you get there after 3 then the taxi drvies you straight to your lodge to unload - its actually easier than taking a car. Contact guest services about the possibility of someone coming to collect your luggage and take it down to the arrival/departure lodge ready for the taxi on your way home.

A taxi will be expensive- it’s about a half hour drive and there aren’t many taxi companies in the area. You can get a bus to Ollerton from Newark and then a taxi from there- depends how much luggage you have really and how much you want to keep costs down. How many of you are there?

Thanks everyone, appreciate the mumsnet advice. There will be 4 of us. We don't mind a walk and should be able to manage the luggage. Looks like best plan is to contact customer service and organise a taxi.
