Joy of joys DD has a 4 day dance comp in Blackpool in August. Having stayed there years ago vowing never to return, am looking for ideas on places to stay away from the city but within reasonable driving distance.

This will be slap bang in middle of our family holiday so maybe cottage somewhere?

Ribby hall, get the pine lodge with the hot tub. We go every year and the DC have a day at the sandcastle/pleasurebeach but we escape back to our gorgeous lodge. Can't recommend it enough.

My parents go to lytham st Anne's a lot and they love the dalmeny hotel.

Another vote for Ribby Hall. There is an adults only hotel, but the rest of it isn't.

Lovely place! We stay in the cottages beside the fishing pond, and it's lovely!
