Wales with DC 10&13

I’m looking for some recommendations for places to stay and accommodation recommendations for Wales this summer. DCs are outdoorsy and adventurous. I don’t know Wales at all and was initially thinking Snowdonia for the activities but would also consider Pembrokeshire. Would a 2-centre holiday be do-able in about 9 days? Will be driving from the ferry in Holyhead if that helps. Thanks!

Yes, I’d say that’s doable. What kind of accommodation are you looking for? Hotel? B&B? Camping?

Snowdonia isn’t too far from Holyhead so you could stay there for a few days then head to Pembrokeshire, which would take about 3 hours ish from Snowdonia. Equally, maybe just stay in the North and save the driving - plenty to do there.

I would say both have plenty of adventure activities and both would be doable. In Snowdonia take a look at ZipWorld and ZipWorld Fforest. You could go coasteering north or south, and rock climbing. We generally camp when we go up North, in Pembrokeshire you could look at Bluestone where there are activities on site or lots nearby. You could also stop off near Aberystwyth and spend a night or two there and go dolphin and whale watching.

You could take them surfing at Surf Snowdonia, and like a pp said, Zip world isn't far away. There is also Go Below, and Bounce Below - loads of adventurous stuff for kids!

The beaches on Anglesey are fab, en route from Holyhead - there are lakes to play on, you could take them up a mountain, all sorts of good stuff to do. The Lleyn Peninsula is also gorgeous - lots of surfing, beaches, walks, trip to Bardsey island if the weather is good.

9 days is enough time to venture down to Pembrokeshire as well, but you might not need to. Boat trip to Skomer would be fun. Depending on whether you want to pack your itinerary or have some chill out days.

Thanks so much - that all sounds great. Would love some recommendations for self-catering accommodation also - anything from glamping, hostel, cottages would be great. Am conscious that most cottages would have a 7-night minimum stay that time of year though.

Yes, definitely recommend Surf Snowdonia - they also have glamping pods there, which are sweet! Zip wire, Bounce Below, Forest Coaster all meant to be great.

As pp mentioned, beautiful beaches on Anglesey. Maybe stay somewhere around Llanberis and then could go any direction from there? Plus could climb Snowdon! No recommendations for cottages etc sorry, but there’s bound to be plenty on TripAdvisor. There are also a number of youth hostels around there.

You may be able to get shorter stays in Airbnb places too.

pico1 · 04/05/2019 14:38

Thanks again all! Will aim for Llanberis as per PP!

Try youth hostels for accommodation. They have private rooms.

To my mind you can't beat north Pembrokeshire. Whitesands is stunning (and has a youth hostel).
