Struggling to find a UK holiday

Hi,

Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions for a good UK holiday. Ideally want to avoid Devon/Cornwall as is a bit too far for us.

Would be for the last week of the summer holidays. There are 5 of us. Ideally either looking for something with lots of entertainment or a holiday cottage with outdoor space, games console etc.

Thanks in advance

The Garlic Farm on the Isle of Wight has outdoor space and a games room, plus a few cottages and some yurts. Books up fast, but might this be the sort of thing? www.thegarlicfarm.co.uk/visit/accommodation

What age range do you have?

Thanks for the reply, we are based in the Midlands so ideally only want a 2/3 hr drive. My children are 3, 6 and 8

At those ages our two loved a camping or a caravan holiday in the UK especially the ones with cheesy kids entertainment at night. If you get the weather it’s ok.
We even went to Butlins at Skegness twice. We stayed in silver accommodation and had the gold food package. The kids thought it was heaven. Our best days were on the beach weather permitting avoiding the big top as much as poss during the day. Some of the entertainment was very good.

Let people know your budget then they can better advise you.

Wales! Snowdonia is gorgeous, or there's the Brecon Beacons. Beautiful place.

We went to Butlins a couple of weekends ago and it was perfect. But it’s around £1300 in the summer holidays for 4 nights. I was hoping for a week for less than a £1000

2 caravan types to choose from the luxury one is £635. East Yorkshire is lovely.

N Wales - Llyn peninsula. Stayed at the haven there when kids were similar age. They liked it, I liked climbing snowdon and port merion

Or look at skipsea sands. A bit tacky but kids love cheesey

Helenabottomfarter · 16/04/2019 15:54

Should point out barmston farm isn't at barmston(which is a small coastal village) but just outside Beverley.

Kiln Park in Tenby? Right on the beach

Holly221288 · 16/04/2019 16:01

Thanks so much for all the suggestions, a list to check out once the children are asleep. Really appreciate it!

Bournemouth? Great beach and plenty to do. Straight down the A34. Lots of holiday rentals.

Daddylonglegs1965 · 17/04/2019 16:38

Northumberland and the beaches are lovely for the DC if you get half decent weather but might be too far for you and don’t know of anywhere with the cheesy entertainment kids that age love. I’m out of touch now mine are teenagers.

Llandudno North Wales is lovely. Very close to snowdonia.

They have a victorian tram way. A toboggan run. A nice victorian pier. The Alice in wonderland trail to follow. There is a farm at one end and Conwy Castle is close by. Have loved it there. Don't find it overly busy either.

Lots of private caravan rentals at Ingoldmells. We stopped off at Mablethorpe on our way there and that was lovely too.

Can't beat Scarborough on the North Yorkshire coast and lots to explore round and about. There are some apartments that overlook the beach I can't remember there name now but will have a look. Right near peasholm Park. You can hire beach huts along the front too. In fact I think its called the sands Scarborough.
