UK seaside holiday with autistic son

Hi everyone wondered if you could help with any advice or ideas.
My son is autistic. Well actually he has fasd but it has autistic adhd and spd tendancies.
We went to Llandudno the other week which he loved. We were right in the centre (good as we also have a 2yr old) the beach was great cos it was sandy but there were rock pools. There was a huge prom to run on. But I can't find anything self-catering and nice for about £800 near the centre. It was also fab cos only took 2 and a half shouts in car.
So
Does anyone know anywhere that:
Is seaside but not massively loud
Has a sandy beach
Has places that are walking distance to the beach
For about £800 for 5 days
Max 3 miles from west midlands
I know I'm asking for the impossible but this is stressing me out so much.

Think you have a typo re distance from West Miss but what about Tenby? It's a proper town but a huge beach so can have alot of people without feeling too busy. Don't think there's a pier but not been for a while.

delilabell · 02/03/2019 14:22

Ha I have yes! 3 hours drive 😂

Green acres haven site at pothmadog is a hit with my autistic son.

The caravan site is lovely and has just a right amount on site, you can walk straight into a lovely sandy beach.

Not far from cricceth which has the rocky beach too. (And a lovely chippy and ice cream parlour)

Sirzy · 02/03/2019 14:26

Also have you looked at Weymouth?

Ted27 · 02/03/2019 14:29

continuing on the north wales theme, Harlech has an amazing beach, there are a couple of caravan sites on the beach road.

MontStMichel · 02/03/2019 14:31

Barmouth is stunning!

anniehm · 02/03/2019 14:37

Dd has always loved east Devon, it's quieter than Torquay, with an older age profile (she finds children annoying!) can't recommend accommodation as dm lives there so we stay for free. She also liked South Wales and we've done northern Spain by ferry.

FloatingthroughSpace · 02/03/2019 14:40

Trearddhur Bay in Anglesey?
Or Benllech, also Anglesey?

Bubblysqueak · 02/03/2019 14:42

Tenby is fab. Our eldest daughter has autism and struggles when we're away but he loves it there. Folly farm is also a great place to visit while you're there.

Thanks all so much. We have to be careful with Wales due to ds birth family but will have a look in the "safe areas" really appreciate your help.

Fellow adopter from the West Mids here.
Tywyn is great for my dds, very family friendly and they still love it now they're 14 and 17.
There are houses and flats right opposite the beach.
There's a paddling pool, playground and amusement arcade on the prom, a cinema, swimming pool, and a steam railway.
Aberdovey for crabbing and donkey rides is only a few mins drive, and Barmouth is half an hour or so on the train, or you could get the miniature railway and ferry at Fairbourne. Fairbourne also has pony trekking. Corris craft centre is good on a wet day.
Have a look at Lounge Lettings - we've booked through them for the last few years.

And Broad Haven in Pembrokeshire was lovely too, with some apartments opposite the beach. Very pretty, like Cornwall without the crowds, and a couple of small theme parks nearby, but it took longer to get there than it does to Tywyn.
Finally, the Isle of Wight was very family friendly with lots to do but my dds' behaviour was so awful there I never want to see the place again. I can't put my finger on what it was that unsettled them, but I've learned they do best in familiar surroundings now so we go back to Tywyn and at least we can relax there. Even silly things like knowing where the toilet stops are en route helps.

EggysMom · 04/03/2019 18:07

You've set a price (under £800) but not given us an idea of when .... just along from Llandudno, there is a Haven at Prestatyn with direct beach access but quite a walk from the town. (Don't get tempted by Pontins though!!) We've done that Haven, Greenacres at Porthmadog, and this year we're going to Hafan y Mor (near Pwllheli)

Weepingwillows12 · 04/03/2019 19:34

If you have to avoid bits of Wales, maybe somewhere Scarborough / whitby way? There's a fair bit to do up there but might be too busy. I don't think it's as pretty as Tenby but there's boats, beaches, shops etc so might work.

I have always fancied the Northumberland coast too but not been yet so can't advise best places.

Disfordarkchocolate · 04/03/2019 19:38

Whitby or Saltburn but the distance may be too far. Saltburn is quieter and there are some great day trips in the area. I'd be staying in Wales though, only Northumbria has better beaches.

delilabell · 04/03/2019 20:20

Thanks everyone for the ideas.
I've been looking at Norfolk? We went on holiday there with ds to just outside Hunstanton not long aster we'd had him. Hunstanton is a no bevause of his awful meltdowns and amazing memory but any ideas about there. Going to look at places people have menfioned now.
@eggsymom summer holidays (I know I'm asking a lot)

We go to Caister Haven every year with our 6 year old son who has autism. He absolutely loves it! Sandy open beach, quiet swimming pool, nice open spaces and if you fancy a bit of noise / arcades / sea life centre Great Yarmouth is 5 mins drive down the road- or for a really quiet beach head up to Winterton. It’s lovely.

Rainbowsandrascals · 07/03/2019 21:21

Wells next to the Sea is lovely with a great beach. Southwold in Suffolk is beautiful and fairly quiet / sedate. It has a great beach and a quirky pier. I hope you find somewhere.

Tuftytail · 07/03/2019 21:27

Lyme Regis. Small sandy beach, large fossil beaches and lots to do.

Haggisfish · 07/03/2019 21:29

Norfolk is more than three hours though-it’s bloody miles away!

delilabell · 08/03/2019 11:27

Thanks both I'll look at those.
@haggisfish 3hrs 10 to Hunstanton

Haggisfish · 08/03/2019 19:20

So it is!! It felt much longer than that when we drove there! Apologies.Grin

mumwon · 08/03/2019 19:24

any beaches in Lincolnshire - people?

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 08/03/2019 19:25

St Anne's?

Littlebelina · 08/03/2019 19:28

Oh was going to suggest Hunstanton but maybe not then. Wells is lovely but no rock pools. If you stay near the North bay for Scarborough it's quieter with lots of space
