Trying to book them 2 nights in a lovely hotel in Central London in May this year.

Don't really want Holiday Inn/Travel Lodge type hotel but can't afford the Savoy/Ritz!

Any ideas?

Try the firmdale group hotels if you are looking for a boutique hotel which is central.

We go to the Morton Hotel in Bloomsbury. Lovely staff and great rooms. If you wanted to push the boat out there is a wee apartment on the top floor/ bedroom, living room and wee kitchen.

We got a really good deal at the Waldorf and that is pretty iconic

The Montague on The Gardens, very close to Russell Square.

The Langham with executive lounge access is one of the nicest.

The Milestone in Kensington. Very old school charm not trendy and hip but quintessentially English, but not fusty - very smart. Also happens to do one of the best afternoon teas in London if that’s your bag.

The Goring (where Kate stayed night before she married Wills). But may be more £££.

Claridges.

Why are they likely to be doing during the day/evening? Taking advantage of the hotel spa or wandering around for a light lunch or wander through a park? Naice Dinner or west end show? I think that would influence choice of hotel for me-I much prefer to stay somewhere that negates the requirement for too much travelling around.

I think they'll want to enjoy wandering around, visiting some galleries.
