Bluestone

We're having our first trip to Bluestone in August. We've done CP several times. Is it much the same setup? They'll be ten of us in a lodge ranging from 5-70. I'm hoping they'll be enough to keep us all entertained.

I've not been to Bluestone but have been to CP. Friends of ours have been to Bluestone though and they seemed to treat it as more of a base to see other places/beaches. They did do activities there, but I don't think there are quite as many as at CP and also the pool area is not the same.

They love it there though and have been a few times and with a similar age range

I've done both. The activities at Bluestone are more aimed at the younger end rather than CP that caters to all ages, I would say the activities are probably great for under 8s. The pool is fab though and the surrounding area is great. There's a theme park practically next door and Folly Farm nearby is great, and the beaches are wonderful.

Bluestone has added a lot more activities for older children/adults over the past year or 2, but there probably is less to do than a UK CP. We've probably had about 5 or 6 short breaks at Bluestone since it opened about 12 years ago.

We ended up there again last July during that sunny summer, with family from overseas (by the time we knew they were coming decent cottages had either been booked up months ago or were mega bucks, so this seemed a good compromise). The children 10-12 enjoyed ( really ) high ropes/zipwires and paddle-boarding.

If you have another great summer you might find yourselves cursing that you need to stay on site to do pre-booked activities. The beaches really are fabulous (and there are some great pubs).

During our stay in term time (mid June) the entertainment team offered free daily activities including a circus zone, a guided historical walk, opportunities tomeet and greet with different Bluestone mascots and hosted games in the pool. In the evening there was free live music one night and a free pub quiz too.
Unlike CP, it's easy to leave the park and explore the local area. Apart from the many beaches, there's Folly Farm, Oakwood Theme Park and Dinosaur Park.
We filled our car with bats, balls and other outdoor toys and I’m so glad we did as we enjoyed playing in our ‘garden’ when we returned to our lodge in the early evening.

Pembrokeshire is so much more than Bluestone. Please venture out to see some of it if you've never been before.

My kids thoroughly enjoy quad biking

I tried it too, got stinking (they give you coveralls), scared myself silly going down a steep hill but had a fab time!!

Beaches, coast path walking with pub stops on the way. Nice towns and villages.

It's a 4-5hour drive for us so just hope it'll be worth it!
