Suggestions for a reasonable road trip for DH's 50th.

Hello,
My very lovely DH is 50 this year and I am thinking to organise a week long road trip. He loves the National Parks, cricket, nice walks, pub lunches, cinema, culture and looking around new places. He hates spending money! Possibly take the dogs but not a necessity as I could leave them behind with the DCs. Has anyone been anywhere nice or stayed anywhere nice, that didn't cost a fortune but had plenty to do? I am thinking probably three stops of a few days over the week. Happy to stay in unusual places, Air BnB, Travelodge or similar but would like to make it special without spending a fortune! Any tips, suggestions or advice welcomed! Thanks! xx

Oh, I'd love to do the North Coast 500 in Scotland.

Ooooh! I will have a look! Never heard of it but definitely sounds like something he would be interested in! Thank-you! :)

We did Scotland in a camper van and it was the best thing ever. Would be just as nice in a car with nice B and Bs I should think. So much to see.

North coast 500 would be my choice

We did this a couple of years ago:
Start by watching a play at the Minack Theatre in Cornwall one evening.
The following day, drive along to Mousehole. Boat trip around the harbour.
Lunch at Lizard Point.
Afternoon at Lost Gardens of Heligan. Stay nearby.
The next day go to the Eden Project. Drive to Dartmoor in the late afternoon. Stay at Bearslake Inn.
The next morning, go for a walk and finish with a picnic. In the afternoon, drive along the Jurassic coast to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door.
The following day, take boat to Brownsea Island to see the red squirrels. Spend the afternoon exploring Poole harbour. Drive to accommodation in the New Forest.
Spend the morning at the National Motor Museum and World of Top Gear. Picnic lunch in the New Forest and go for a walk (we hired bikes as well).
The next day go to the historic dockyard at Portsmouth. We spent all day here and then caught the last ferry to the Isle of Wight for our final night.

I have checked out the North Coast 500 and it looks amazing! Flights reasonable too! Another lovely suggestion at the other end of the country! Thanks @Ricekrispie22 ! I am feeling quite inspired! I shall get Googling! Thanks all Flowers

I came to suggest the North Coast 500 but can see I’m not very original Grin
Have a great time wherever you choose to go.
