Where can I get this peaceful, beautiful experience in the UK?

I’m looking for ideas of where in the UK I can get the following in January, feb type time for a couple of nights max. Will be just me.

  • peaceful, safe room. Ideally not a separate lodge due to safety concerns
  • having said that want to feel like I’m buried in a forest or right on the waters edge
  • balcony to room that I can sit on and drink coffee without anyone caring and that I can enjoy
  • lack of too much lighting at night so I can see stars
  • either self catering or non fussy type meals available. Maybe a small village nearby with a pub and a Londis

All needs to be accessible with no car (can take taxi from train station of course)

Ideally with short ish walks I can do

Not asking much I know! Any ideas?

www.pinewoods.co.uk?

(I’ve never been to the holiday place but the area is nice)

Fisherground Lodges, Eskdale in the Lake District - there's a mini train line with a halt nearby, so you can get there by changing at Ravenglass.

Separate lodges but they feel very safe, I would have no worries about staying there alone.

Nice pub and village shop a short walk away.

Pottering I came on to say Kielder. Ticks all the boxes

It's going to be pretty chilly/wet on a balcony in the UK in Jan/Feb

If a private patio area overlooking a stream will do instead I know of somewhere that largely fits your requirements in the Lake District.

I can PM you a link if you want?

Isn't it odd how everyone thought of the Lakes when reading the OP? I did too, then read the other replies.
I've stayed here a few times and really enjoyed it. www.applebymanor.co.uk/

Something overlooking lake Windermere?

whenlifegetshard · 10/11/2018 21:22

Thanks all! So looks like the Lake District has got a big vote from Mumsnet folk... I’ll take a good look at it all now

Most places with the postal address Windermere will be within 5 miles of the station, approximately, IIRC.

I love the coast in winter. We often go to Devon in February
