Because DH says it will be fun. I am not a wimp but I always thought a one star hotel was a car park.

Before DC's I wasnt' atall fussy, but had the money to stay in nice hotels. After DC's I became very fussy and refused to stay in anything less than a 4*, which is silly, because it's usually the lift/pool/gym /spa facilities that add the extra stars, not how nice the actual hotel is.

Also silly, because we can hardly ever aford a hotel with 3 DC's!

Agree Lynette, it is the dcs that made me fussy. Did youth hostels perfectly happily in distant youth.

It looks fine on its website. Star ratings are based on such things as whether all rooms are ensuite (presumably not here) and whether there are trouser presses (so useful) and night porters and other things that aren't that important! Unless you are totally wedded to the country house hotel/boutique hotel, this looks great for an activity holiday (and far far better than the YHA and sheet sleeping bags.

I've stayed in some excellent b&bs that had no stars but were far more comfortable than 3 star hotels. Have also stayed in a supposedly 5 star hotel where a dirty tray was left outside the door of the next room for at least 18 hours and a 3 star hotel with sugar all over the tablecloth at breakfast - and I was up early. See if it's on tripadvisor.co.uk and if not post a review when you get back.

got to be better than the B&B I stayed in with my huband on our first night away together. It had nylon sheets and you could literally see the sparks. And the pictures on the wall were of cats cut out from old calendars and just stuck on the walls! And I still married him....
