Dh and I are taking the kids on a half term weekend break to Glasgow in October. We're flying from London and staying in George Square but would really appreciate any suggestions of things to do with them!

Loads of things! Science Center good if weather not great (it is a little pricey though), People's Palace also good, see what life was like in an old Glasgow tenement. Transport museum if you like that sort of thing. Kelvingrove art museum has lots of child friendly exhibits. City bus tours good for getting a feel of the place and seeing what's out there to do. Kelvingrove park. See if there is anything you fancy happening at the Hydro exhibition centre. Xscape at Braehead has loads, including an artificial ski slope where the kids can go sledging, and an indoor centre where you can do an overhead walkway thing and go on the climbing wall, also bowling.

What kind of things do your kids like to do?

Am pretty sure all the Scottish museums are free

One of my favourite museums is the Scotland Street School Musuem. You can see how classrooms have changed through the ages. There's lots for kids to do including dressing up in old school uniforms, writing on old slates and wax tablets etc...
The Riverside Museum has an impressive three-mastedboat that's berthed outside the museum. Inside, there's a large transport collection including bicycles, steam locomotives and model ships. Lots of the exhibits are interactive.
Clyde Cruises offer 90 minute boat trips. You'll get some good views and if you board in the centre of the city you can use it as transport to the Riverside Musuem.
Pollock Country Park is just a 10 minute train journey from the centre and the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle. There is a Woodland Garden and a Woodland Trail leading out from the Library Gardens, well worth exploring or you can take the Food Route and nose around the kitchen gardens and Demonstration Vegetable Garden, amongst other things. You can pick up details on all these little features at the Countryside Ranger Centre.
The Scottish Football Museum and stadium tour are excellent for sports fans. On the stadium tour, you will visit the underground roadway and team changing rooms, and kids can have the speed of their shot electronically measured! Walk down the tunnel, and then climb the stairs to the cup presentation area.
It's worth exploring the cathedral. It's free to enter and nice and peaceful.

We have family there - Glasgow science centre is a must! Basically a fully hands on science centre I took my three (7,5 and 3 at the time) last year and they had great fun!

We also like xscape - indoor trampoline park, restaurants and an indoor fake snow slope which I am sure do sledding for your age dc which would be great fun!

I am not sure what else is on in the city centre but we also did Kelburn castle which was fun - play area and a little forest with little fairytale houses etc to explore!

Xscape Braehead is great for kids. Science centre is also good.

Transport museum (free) & tall ship
Kelvingrove museum (free)
Science centre (££)
Shopping is great in Glasgow. There's a small kids play area in the food court at the St Enoch centre.
There's a great play park next to the People's Palace
Flip Out trampoline park & softplay
If 8yo likes football there's a Scottish Football Museum at Hampden
Boat trip on the Clyde
Scotland Street School Museum (free)
Botanic gardens (free)
Jurrasic crazy golf
Amazonia at Strathclyde country park

I much prefer Edinburgh, why not visit for the day?

Science museum and school museum sound great! Well do a city bus tour I'm sure. Was hoping to book tickets to a show, either a musical or ballet but can't find anything appropriate. We've been to Edinburgh already so no need but thanks.

Everything as suggested above, also the Scottish half term is earlier than in England so it won't be as busy. Possibly also why there aren't any suitable shows?
