I live In cornwall not too far from looe actually 45min drive. Looe is a nice small town with the beach. I would have a look online to maybe find some areas around looe that you may wish to go and visit over the week. May be a bit limited on activities to do with a five year just in looe for a week. Also remember the roads especially the a30 down this way are extremely busy at the moment so leave plenty of time for travelling. My family came round beginning of week a normal 1 hour journey took them 4 hours because of holiday traffic.

Monkey Sanctuary is worth a visit. For a rainy day take a trip to Plymouth for the aquarium.

My DBIL has just spent 24 hours here as work owed him some time and he was in Cornwall this week anyway.
He was a bit disappointed that the glorious heatwave had come to end so didn't see the town at its best but overall his comments to me were really very positive - "Whilst the weather remains gloomy, we still had a wonderful day off in Looe."

We know Looe really well. There is a new climbing wall thing due to open / might already be open. we loved crabbing lines off of the quay, monkey sanctuary, tamar valley donkey park, glass bottom boat trip, lots of good ice cream places, little train into Looe and loads of other stuff. they have a tourist information place in the middle that is a great first stop for leaflets and stuff.

i assume you drive? If so, Polperro is nice to visit. If it was just adults then I’d suggest the Polperro to Looe (or the other way around) coastal path walk. We did this in the heatwave and the views off the coast are gorgeous, really blue and clear seas.
Talland Bay is lovely, there’s a little cafe with some beach huts outside that have been made into booths with tables in them.
Carnglaze Caverns is nice, might be a bit much for a 5 year old depending on what they’re used to. But there’s caves and a hilly woodland walk.

In Looe itself, I like crabbing in the harbour. Or there’s lots of shops and arcades. Lots of bucket and spades etc. There’s a pub on the seafront with a beer garden on top of hats your thing.

Ahh I’m too late. The Golden Guinea is meant to be nice. For next time.

The Golden Guinea. Is that still there? I remember it from 50 years ago.
