Has anyone gone to butlins as a lone parent? Any tips? It's just me and dd(2) and we are staying at the minehead resort.

No tips but my mum used to take me and my brothers on her own and we loved it , used to get the coach there and was lots for us to do. Hope you have a good time :)

Yes. I go to butlins every year with two children. They are now older than yours but we started going when oldest was 1. I tell all my single-parent friends that Butlins is an easy holiday to do alone. The children are entertained 9 am to whatever time in the evening. On the beach. Fairground for all ages. Great pool. Friendliest staff ever, from senior management to housekeeping. Ive noticed at skeggy they are an equal opportunities employer as well: for example all of the check-in staff were in their 60s (at least).

Download the app before you go and check what is on that is age-appropriate and will be of interest to your child. Messy play was always a favourite for mine and the toddler / young child crafts.

Go to all the appropriate shows. Might as well get your moneies worth!

Go on the toddler fairground, which i believe is indoor at minehead, and in the pool.

Dont bother taking clothes that are too dressy. It is casual. And make sure your shoes are comfy. Youll walk miles. I always bring back half the clothes i take unworn as my children mainly wear skyland gang outifts and the redcoat outfits.

Oh and i have NEVER failed to have single-fathers chatting to me, keen for conversation. So, if youre looking, there will be plenty Grin
