Who wants to look at the filth I'm paying to stay in then?

Booked Airbnb no reviews as it was the first time they've done it. It's our one holiday of the year and we've worked really hard to save up.
The house is filthy, greasy marks all over the walls, toilets are absolutely black, everything you touch feels sticky and greasy
We want to leave but Airbnb won't refund us as the cleaning issues are "minor" the owner has offered to send round his cleaning team but I just want to go home Sad

Agree let him send a cleaning team.

ShellieEllie · 09/08/2018 18:55

Could be cola in the loo, hear some people use it to clean them!

AnnaMagnani · 09/08/2018 18:58

Let him send the cleaning team.

Next time, only ever book with AirBnB superhosts. You live and learn.

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 09/08/2018 18:59

Where are you? While it’s not ideal, it wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me. I don’t book anywhere without reviews though!

SirVixofVixHall · 09/08/2018 18:59

We stayed in somewhere really filthy last year. It wasn’t Airbnb, it was a private rental. On her reviews posted on her website it said “spotless clean” ...we were there for two nights only, thankfully, as I couldn’t have stuck any more.
She has idyllic pics of roaming hens, there were no hens, as they’d all been eaten by foxes. She mentioned getting them for almost nothing as ex-battery hens, and then just getting more when the fox inevitably ate them as she couldn’t be bothered to look after them properly by shutting them in at dusk. I know even well cared for hens get taken occasionally, as it’s happened to me, but these were just cannon fodder.

It looks horrible. I would stand over the cleaners as they do it.

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 09/08/2018 19:03

This is vile. I dont blame you. I wouldn't accept the clean and wouldn't be hanging around. I'd be out of there like a Flash (get it?) X

startingtolooklikemother · 09/08/2018 20:06

We've made the decision to go home tomorrow. I may be cutting my nose off to spite my face but it's sort of like when you go out to eat and get a hair in your dinner, yes the food can be replaced but it's just lost it's shine.
I will lose one nights accommodation, with hindsight I should of said something I noticed it was foul ( first day we got here we went straight out) we were trying to just get on with things and it took us a couple of days to realise we were not AIBU
Will only book weeks holiday via super host from now on

One of the toilets in my house goes that colour. It is cleaned every week by our cleaners and is rarely used between cleans (maybe once of twice a week) because it's in an awkward part of the house. I have no idea why it goes that colour, it's really weird.

MrsAidanTurner · 10/08/2018 09:02
  1. please don't ever stay anywhere again with out reviews!!!

  2. accept cleaning team.

  3. and demand refund, say your going to leave appalling review

AlexaAmbidextra · 11/08/2018 15:31

I really don’t understand the posters who are saying it’s not that bad. It’s absolutely minging and I would be very unhappy if I’d paid to stay there. I think the owner is a fucking disgrace renting it out in that state.

SimonBridges · 11/08/2018 15:36

I have a toilet that furs up for no reason too!

It’s grotty but not that dreadful.

Branleuse · 11/08/2018 15:39

was it really expesive, as although i agree its not brilliantly clean, I think youre a bit OTT to cut your holiday short

madeyemoodysmum · 11/08/2018 15:50

I feel for you as we just left a holiday Early and found other accommodations as it wasn't up to scratch. Got a refund on half the amount tho.

Sadly I think airbnb etc are a bit risky and I haven't risked them myself.

madeyemoodysmum · 11/08/2018 15:53

Oh and my place had good reviews. Makes it even more disappointing

AdventuresRUs · 11/08/2018 15:57

My walls and sockets look like that... Blush

TheDishRanAwayWithTheSpoon · 11/08/2018 16:06

One of my toilets does that, it's limescale I think but it's definitely a clean toilet. I remove it but it just comes back.

It's not that bad, its a bit of grot on the microwave and a dusty plug socket behind some furniture. They are right in that its minor and I would have accepted the cleaning team tbh, i think thats fair and it's very much cutting off your nose to spite your face. You can't really complain if you stayed there a few days before notifying them.
