Best place to stay in Cornwall - especially for eating and beaches

Just that really!

It's my first time in Cornwall and I want to visit gorgeous beaches, restaurants and countryside.

Where are the best places to stay for all of that? I'll be there for about a week in August with my partner and two kids.

@yellowellie I work in Bude and live nearby so quiz me about anything you need to know if it helps.

Fwiw Bude and the surrounding roads aren't crazy busy atm, and haven't been too bad at all so far. It's a small seaside town but it does have a couple of really lovely beaches, and a sea pool of course, which is awesome.

There are loads of nice places to eat. If you can get in, The Deck does superb food, plus La Bocca is a relatively new pizza restaurant on the Strand which is tiny but does delish pizzas.

Anyway, here for questions if you want.

We're going to Fowey this year. We went to Looe last year. We loved it!

I assume you’ll have a car and will be happy to tour around?

I’d recommend the Falmouth area. It’s a big town with lots to do, and has beautiful beaches, including the wonderful Gyllyngvase. Lots of lovely restaurants and cafes, and it town itself is lovely.

Easy day trips to the Lizard, St Ives (use the park and ride!) etc. There’s a deal sanctuary in nearby Gweek. Or head to Roskilly’s farm for amazing ice-cream, see the cows being milked, and visit the pigs and quail.

We stay in Flushing which is across the harbour from Falmouth. It’s a little village that has two pubs which both do lovely food (one in particular is amazingly good), and a restaurant. You can hop on a little foot ferry that goes back and forth across the harbour.

It’s a short trip to Mylor where there are plenty of lovely places for food right on the harbour.

We’ve booked through falmouthholidayhomes.co.uk for the past few years and have found them good, and the houses are of a very high standard. They have availability for August, and some properties are discounted.
(I’ve recommended them on here before but I’m in no way affiliated)
