We're going to Filey/Scarborough for a few days next summer with 5 1/2 year old DS. Any ideas for things to do? We've been to Playdale Farm Park a fair bit so looking for something different, preferably not a soft play place. Maybe something like a climbing wall, go ape type thing, big adventure playground, swimming complex etc.

He's into football, swimming, and being active. We're not staying on a holiday park, so no activities where we're staying.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

There’s the Alpermere water park at Scarborough. It’s free for under 6s I think which means they can’t go on the massive slides but still plenty to enjoy. There’s also the pool at Bridlington which has water slides.

It’s a bit further out but there’s Go Ape at Daley Forest.

We’ve not not been but this place looks great too www.northyorkshirewaterpark.co.uk/aquapark/ .Again, it’s limited to what a 5 year old can do but still things they can participate in.

Filey Beach has a lot to do if the weather is dry and the tide is out. We played a crazy golf which was fun and there was a wee fun fair bit,

If you have transport, then the John Bull Rock factory in Bridlington is fun to make rock and they have a soft play. Bondville Model Village too is worth a visit. The Yorkshire Belle boat trips are fun too. There is also a pirate ship you can do a smaller trip on for £1 each.

Hire bikes in Thornton le Dale to ride round Dalby Forest.
The pool at Bridlington was recently completely refurbished and now has slides.
Sewerby Hall has footgolf, trails, animals & playground and is quite cheap to enter as council owned.
Have a full day out at Castle Howard. They have a lovely adventure playground. You can pay for the gardens only, take a picnic and there is usually free stuff on for children in the grounds.
