City centre or outlying areas?

Moominfan · 31/05/2018 21:03

There's some good places in merchant city area - the Mexican place there (Pancho Villas) does amazing fajitas. There's a place on argyle st, just past central station called Where the Monkey Sleeps - looks like a shell of a place inside but the food is amazing (for lunch time, not sure it's open later). There's also Piccolo Mondo beside it for something a bit nicer decor wise. If you like Chinese then the Amber Regent has always had a good reputation (not been there for years though). There's also a new place called platform - it's in the arches under Central Station. I've not been but a friend has & was raving about the food (street food indoor marketplace). There's different stalls & also a coffee vendor that does amazing coffee too. And the Willow Tearooms is a treat in itself.

That's all off the top of my head, I'm sure there's a few more others can think of.

I went to two fat ladies recently - food was good and nice wine list. Restaurant had nice atmosphere and great staff.

Fanny Trollopes Smileor Ox and Finch. In Finnieston so a 5 minute taxi from city centre but great neighbourhood with buzzing bars and restaurants. Ooh and the bar at the Blythswood Square hotel does great cocktails.
Have a wonderful time!

I would head for Finnieston - more interesting independent restaurants, really great vibe and you can have a wander round the Kelvingrove Museum or park beforehand.

  • 6 by Nico
  • Ox & Finch
  • Crab Shak
  • Kelvingrove Cafe
  • The Gannet

Alternatively, further up into the West End towards Byres Road:

  • Cail Bruich
  • Ubiquitous Chip - relaxed dining in the Brasserie, more formal in the Restaurant
  • Number 16

I'm sure someone else can advise you of similar restaurants nearer the city centre, but don't discount hopping on the subway for a few minutes.

I went to TwoFatLadies years back and we had a lovely meal, there's a couple of sites isn't there?

But yes staff were lovely, I had a quibble about a sauce and waitress immediately said they could serve it separately so it didn't cover my meal and spoil it if I wasn''t keen. It was lovely anyway!

Also have memories of the cutest bar, and too many Brandy Alexanders! ...Vronis I think it was!

Love child free eating and drinking! Have a great time OP!!
