Treating the kids (2 kids 2 adults) to a few days in Edinburgh mid July and looking for a reasonable priced hotel near to Princes Street.
Any suggestions please and and any tips on where to go etc be appreciated!!
Just thought of another maybe silly question! I'm assuming I can use sterling notes and coins? I just remember when I had Scottish notes before from a relative I was refused in the shop and had to change at the bank.

@kissmelittleass

I just remembered I think it was £165 £(£180 with £15 marks voucher back) but still cheap. Yes 2 double beds so slept family of 4.

It was Edinburgh learmouth.

Not a massive breakfast selection and sometimes you had to wait but was included in price and kept children happy! Room was basic but clean. Wasn't noisy. You could cross the road and up a path and go for a nice walk by the water. It's on a main road out of Edinburgh but set back with access road in front so near for the bus (although to be honest with 4 a taxi was cheaper!) but not sitting right on the road

Didn't answer other question - yes assume similar to premier inn (although don't think I have stayed in one of them)

We stayed a Sunday - Tuesday night the week after schools broke up.

I have a 6yo and 10yo dd and they (and we) loved the royal yacht brittania out at Leith. The fudge made by them is also worth buying!

have a look at ITISON, it's like a scottish groupon, lots of stuff on there and often some really good hotel deals. Also meals out too.

it does vary though, so check often!
