Places like The Pig(s) but further north?

We've just been to the Pig at Combe as part of a trip to the SW, after staying at the Pig near Bath last year, and loving both. Can anyone suggest similar places further north? Wales, Midlands, North West? Nice luxury small country house hotel/ bigger restaurant with rooms type of foodie places? Needs to be ok with a baby if not specifically child friendly, not too bothered about a spa. The sort of place with lounges, a cosy library maybe, that you can hole up in and not want to leave for 24hrs except maybe for a bit of a walk. Not somewhere that tends to be booked out in its entirety for weddings all the time. Ideas?

That does look nice but there's no shortage of great places in the Cotswolds; I'd class that still as very much "down south". Looking for places Midlands upwards really.

We like this place. It's a v nice local pub with fabulous food. V relaxing, not much in the way of facilities - it's all about the food.

Dannah cottages/ Dannah farm hotel are in the Peak District and lovely. You can drive to the ‘stepping stones’ for a lovely walk? X

Fabulous, some more suggestions. Really like the look of Dannah farm, will definitely look into that! The Millstone not quite what we're looking for and Greywalls ideal but Scotland too far north: I'm Goldilocks aren't I! Basically should have said roughly within two hours from Cheshire.

I think the most likely area would be the Lake District, any more recommendations?
