North Wales and Aglesea in the rain?

Lovemusic33 · 28/03/2018 09:44

Things to do in North Wales on a rainy day/week please?

Off on holiday on Monday for the week, 2 dc’s age 12 and 14 (both ASD), had plans for outside things, places to visit but the weather is looking very wet for next week so we need a few back up plans. Dc’s don’t like busy places, one has physical disabilities so zip world isn’t an option. Any ideas?

I really love Greenwood Forest Park. It is a park with attractions and rides but it is very quiet and environmentally friendly so no noisy electronic noises. There will be something there that your dc will love to do.

LARLARLAND · 28/03/2018 09:56

if you look at Greenwood's accessibility guide, they provide some guidance about visitors with disabilities such as your dc's. They may be able to give you some more advice if you ring them.

Betws y Coed is nice, lovely little train there. Haven't been to Anglesey Sea Zoo for a while but you could try that, or Pili Palas butterfly place. Greenwood is good and have a look at Surf Snowdonia, big bounce and the rollercoaster that Zip World have opened, I think it's actually not as scary as it sounds!

Lovemusic33 · 28/03/2018 13:40

Thank you will look at Greenwood’s and the other places mentioned. I’m not sure if they would do the roller coaster thing at zip world or the trampoline thing, I have looked and it’s quite expensive, I’m worried we would pay and then they would refuse to do it.

I love Anglesey, lots of lovely small places to visit.
Might not rain too much. It has a microclimate.

ozymandiusking · 28/03/2018 23:04

There is a large swimming pool at Amlwch, google to see if it's suitable and opening times.
If you get a nice day, a visit to Newborough beach, through pine woods is very nice.
Hope you have a lovely Easter. x

Lovemusic33 · 29/03/2018 08:53

We have a national trust past so will be using that (I want to sea the red squirrel’s).

Soft play is a no go as it will be too noisy for dd2 during half term and I hate soft play with a passion.

Will look at the sea zoo. Hopefully the sun will come out at some point and we can explore some of the beaches and mountains.

Penrhyn castle too.
Caernarfon castle has quite good indoor displays/museums.
Electric mountain in llanberis
Piggery pottery
Cinema
Oriel Mon is worth a little visit
Hope you got out today.

mamapants · 01/04/2018 19:25

Just realised its not Monday yet Blush
Forecast looks OK from Thursday onwards, depending where you're staying obviously.
Weather is often better on Anglesey or towards Llandudno so worth checking different locations forecast on day by day basis.

foxandhounds · 01/04/2018 19:59

May be too far afield but have a look at www.glasfryn.co.uk/ten-pin-bowling.html

has ten pin bowling but best to pre book

The Lloyd George museum - is interesting but not massive - and is near to

rabbitfarm.co.uk/ which I've never been to.

Also electric mountain in llanberis is good if you're into that sort of thing

foxandhounds · 01/04/2018 20:01

We are in the area this week too - have faith, the sun will shine I'm sure it will...

Lovemusic33 · 01/04/2018 20:19

Thank you, the forecast looks a little better as the week goes on, we are staying on the edge of Snowdonia (north) so not far from Anglesey. Looks like we will have a interesting drive tomorrow at the weather looks awful first thing.

Just thought as well that greenwood is actually more of an outdoor attraction. The two indoor bits are soft play.

Userplusnumbers · 01/04/2018 20:20

I second the sea zoo! It's so lovely there!
