I'm planning a week away in August and would like to know your top wild life experiences in the UK. We went to the Isle of May in Scotland a couple of years back in August to see the puffins it was amazing. We've done a fair bit of travelling and this was definitely one of the best experiences what else would you recommend! TIA.

Dolphin watching in the Moray Firth. Sightings of the Moray Firth Dolphins are highest in the Chanonry Point area but there are a few other good locations around Inverness and you can take boat trips too. The Moray coast is not only famous for bottlenose dolphins, but also harbour porpoises and even whales, especially the Minke whale.

Seal spotting in Norfolk. Within the Blakeney National Nature Reserve, basking common and grey seals can be seen on the 3 mile sandbank stretch of Blakeney Point.

Red Kite watching at one of the UK's only Red Kite feeding stations on Argaty Farm in Scotland. You have to book to attend the feeding, which is at about 2.30pm every day in the summer.

Red squirrels on Brownsea Island or at Formby near Liverpool.

Boat trip to the Farne Islands? A bit late for puffins, but loads of seals.

The lake district is absolutely beautiful! I saw this article the other day - I'm trying to tick them all of the list!

I would love to see orcas/killer whales and I believe you sometimes can off Scotland at certain times of the year?

Lake District is good for red squirrels and ospreys. I’ve had some great walks in the Lakes including one recent one where I saw a kingfisher, a fox (very close up), a red squirrel and a stoat all within an hour of each other!

And seals can be seen very close on dry land in Lincolnshire near Skegness, Blakeney point. You can be 2ft away from mums and newborn pups, Oct time.

MrsJoshDun · 29/03/2018 23:23

Sorry Donna nook...I’m getting the Lincolnshire and Norfolk spots muddled up.

Orcas off John o groats/Orkney

MrsMoastyToasty · 29/03/2018 23:27

Isle of Mull. I've seen basking sharks, golden eagles and seals. There are also whale watching trips from Tobermory.

retirednow · 30/03/2018 11:15

Ive been looking at The Big Cat Sanctuary in Headcorn Kent after watching the puma cub on t.v., they have lodges you can stay in. If you're thinking of Devon you've got the Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth.

Mercurial123 · 30/03/2018 12:38

Orcas would be amazing to see.

Retired thanks we want to see British wildlife not sure I'd want to see animals in captivity, I've been lucky enough to go on safari a few times and nothing beats seeing the big cats in their natural environment.

I know what you mean, the Highland Wildlife Park in Scotland was the nearest I ever got to seeing animals roaming free in the wild. I don't like seeing animals in captivity either but the cat sanctuary does look well kept and rural.

Isle of Mull. I've seen basking sharks, golden eagles and seals. There are also whale watching trips from Tobermory.

This plus orca round the northern most coasts of Scotland.

Lj8893 · 30/03/2018 13:28

Probably not quite as exciting as some of these but watching the wild ponies in the New Forest is lovely!
