Nearest beach to New Buckenham, Norfolk

We are going to New Buckenham, south Norfolk, for a long weekend soon. We would like to visit a lovely beach , ideally with a promenade (as taking toddler in pram). Can anyone recommend one not too far?

Cromer is the best place for a pier.

Cromer is definitely the best pier in that area - and I’d recommend no.1 for fish and chips. For a buggy friendly beach check out Cart Gap; it’s near Sea Palling and as it’s the base for the RNLI it has a concrete ramp down to the beach. It’s very popular with dog walkers though, in case that’s an issue. There’s a decent cafe there too.

I would second the dinosaur park, it was fab when mine were toddlers. Gressenhall has a great playground and you might find it interesting, but it is quite expensive. There’s loads to do in Norwich and lots of fab places to eat. The Georgian townhouse is good and has a playroom for kids. The forum children’s library in the city is good for free entertainment and a sit down for you! Eaton park in Norwich has a great kids playground, and Waterloo park has a smaller playground but a fab cafe called Britannia cafe.

A bit further afield, wroxham barns is nice for young kids and there’s the narrow gauge railway too.

Just looked at a map and I’d go to wells next the sea in your position. Fab playground in the small town (can you tell what I spend a lot of time doing?!) and a nice harbour area with a pancake boat. No pier though Smile

Have a great time!

Cart gap is quite far from where you’re staying actually. Holkham is one of the most amazing beaches imo but it is a walk from the car park. There is an amazing adventure playground at holkham hall though for just the price of parking, then there’s a decent cafe and a lake to walk around. And mini tractors to climb on! In fact, I think I’ll take the kids again at Easter Grin
