Whinfell Center Parcs - middle area

I've just made a booking. Does anybody know how long a walk it is from the Beechwood area in to the centre?

Will it be easy to walk with a 4 year old or will we need bikes?

Thank you

Just adding I know it says 8-12 minutes on the website but is this at a child's pace 😂

I've just looked on the map and Beechwood is long and thin so it depends whereabouts in it you are, do you know which number? I've been to CP a lot and I do think it's worth paying a bit extra for somewhere nearer the centre, is that an option?

Hi, thank you.

It's 25. When I looked 34 and 36 were available which are closer to the pink area on the map, but only a few lodges down. I've never been so finding it hard to visualise.

There was no central area available for the new woodland lodges.

There were central lodges available for the older woodland lodges.

We've stayed there before and it was a 10 minute slow walk but depending on which number you are there are quite a few short cuts which you can use if you're on foot. By bike you are more limited to the main roads / cycleways.

alphajuliet123 · 19/01/2018 11:12

I wouldn't bother with a bike either, time doesn't matter at CP anyway so you can just amble along! Looks like these new woodland lodges are only in 3 areas so far. Was there anything in Badger Wood as that is very close to the nature area with big toadstool seats.

Regardless, you will have an amazing time. We first went when our youngest was 1 and have been once or twice a year since (and yes, we do take them out of primary school in order to get the best deals!)

When do you go? Take loo roll, kitchen roll, washing up liquid or dishwasher tabs, teatowels... and we always take our wok, a good kitchen knife and chopping board!

Thanks for the tips. A ten minute slow walk sounds good. Good to know we won't need bikes, although we'll probably take a balance bike or scooter.

There are some in Badger Wood, that sounds lovely. We will have to explore.

We go at the end of June for 5 days (before the prices shoot up) my son's still in Nursery. We were meant to go abroad but I've left it too late to save. He's thrilled with the idea of Center Parcs though as lots of friends and family have been.

I've been looking at some activities, I think he will love the archery. Any tips on whether things like the Mad Hatter's Tea Party in the Den are worth doing?

To be honest we don't book that much in advance. We go with friends usually in winter so most of the time is spent at the pool (take some 20p coins for the swimsuit dryer machine, amazing!) or playgrounds. Scooter/balance bikes are perfect, take a bike lock though. The pottery painting is a nice thing to do, allow 48 hours I think to collect. Kids disco is free, geo-caching will get you a good long walk around the place, quite a few options for activities in the sports plaza. We've tended to just book when we fancy doing something and the weather is ok.

You MUST try and go to the spa, its about £35 for a 3hr general sesh (no treatments) and it's better than some of the really expensive hotel spas.

Hope you love it and it becomes a regular thing. It's great for a winter break, we usually go this time of year and pay about £450 for a 4bedWL for 8 of us, lovely to go with friends or family too and costs so much less. The winter wonderland in Nov/Dec is fantastic too. I'm actually quite excited for you!!

I have been for the last 10 years minimum (grans family holiday she loves it) we always stay on beechwood as it's close to the car park As my grandfather couldn't walk far due to illness (he needs a chair to get about eventually), id say it takes about 10 minutes it's not far at all, but depends which end you stay at I would think!

juneybean · 19/01/2018 12:00

We stayed in Badger Wood just now and it was lovely and very central to everything

DarkDarkNight · 19/01/2018 13:43

Was it middle area juneybean? There's only two left but they're late 40s and look further back.

alphajuliet123 I'm excited too! We live quite close but I've never been. Some people at work often go with friends or family in big groups and I feel like I've missed out.

I don't think my son will be fussed about doing too much other than swimming and the playgrounds but I may book a couple of things when we're there.

Ahh we were number 25 but the houses are pretty packed together so looking at the map 41-45 would be fine but bear in mind those are at the bottom of the hill if pushing a buggy it's an uphill trek to the center :)

DarkDarkNight · 19/01/2018 20:28

Oh we are 25 too, I will have a good look around so I can pick an area next time.
