Weekend in Bath

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in Bath near city centre for a birthday weekend?

We stayed in a premier inn/Travelodge on the outskirts opposite a fab Indian restaurant. I spent the money I saved on a spa day at bath spa. it has an open air roof top super heated pool as well as treatment options and I also went to the pump room for afternoon tea. I have done it the other way round and stayed in a swanky hotel with less to spend on going out but this was by far the best option of the two.

We premier inned nearer edge if Bristol and visited everywhere!

'No.15 Great Pulteney Street' is a fantastic boutique hotel in a central location.
I would also suggest booking a meal at 'The Ivy' which is a fairly new addition to Bath and is good for breakfast, lunch, tea or supper.

Avoid the Hilton - good location but awful hotel and service. Bath is fab for a weekend away though, enjoy!

Wherever you choose, check very carefully in case it is up a hill. Bath is surprisingly hilly and some of them are very steep!

Thanks everyone! Some great suggestions. With the Spa, do you have to have treatments or can you just go in without treatments, and how long would you stay there for?

no you don't have to have treatments. Sessions are 1.5 hours (maybe 2? I'd struggle to spend more than 1.5 hours anyway)

You can just go in without treatments, bu if you pre-book something then they add the time of the treatment into your time in the spa. It’s the same with the restaurant. 2 hours should be enough. Enjoy
