Budget holiday ideas for Summer 2018 with 3 teens

DC will be 14, 14 and 16. Enjoy active holidays.

Previous years we have camped, but a) our tent is damaged from freak hailstorm in France this year and b) I've had enough of camping!

DH wants to patch up the 100+ holes in our tent from the hailstorm, I take it as a sign that we should NOT camp next year!!

Obviously by camping, we keep the cost down even with additional travel cost to France this year.

Had a vague notion of Centre Parcs, knew it was expensive but fell over when I saw the cost for 5 of us!

Any ideas like Centre Parcs (I have seen Bluestone, Wales mentioned on MN before, so more ideas please).

Budget is £1500

Ace Hideaways, Moray
This woodland site offers activities on the Findhorn river: canyoning, tubing, cliff jumping, rafting, kayaking and fly-fishing. There are also gorge walks, a disc golf course and paintballing. There’s an outdoor kitchen with two fire pits, woodland showers and composting loos. Campers can pitch their own tents in clearings, or hire a bell tent or shepherd’s hut.

Camp Katie, North Yorkshire
This glampsite on Camp Hill Manor estate has quad biking, segway tours, adventure playground, bushcraft area, treetop adventure course, climbing wall and rope bridge plus zipwire. There is also an outdoor eco spa with wood-fired sauna and hot tub. Accommodation ranges from tipis and bell tents to pods and geodomes – the hobbit pods are good value in autumn.

Or consider a youth hostel. A lot of them are incredibly Family focussed. www.yha.org.uk/adventures-and-activities

This would be above your budget but it includes all meals and activities. acornfamilyholidays.co.uk/activity-holidays/united-kingdom/wales-brecon-beacons-glamping.html

@Ricekrispie22 did you mean camp katur?

Ricekrispie22 · 20/11/2017 20:47

Yes sorry I did indeed mean Camp Katur. Wretched autocorrect!

European Centre Parcs, hope this link works

Rest of budget for travel. It's the end of August dates that are cheaper.

Oddsocks15 · 20/11/2017 21:26

Ooh some great ideas thanks.....

Ricekrispie22 really like the look of Moray, quite a distance to travel but I do fancy Scotland next year.

YHA. The one in Edale is an activity centre. There's good walking around there and some nice pubs in the village.

Cornwall is good for teens as there is lots of outdoor stuff to do. We stay HERE with ours and they like the barn with pool table, airhockey and table football but particularly the swimming pool. Theres things like surfing lessons, go karting and a place called the Adrenalin quarry nearby.

alternatively, I would look at somewhere like North wales around Porthmadog for the summer. We were there over August with teens and found a lot of different days out to do.

I think you are going to struggle to find anything for 5 of you on a centreparcs type place for that price in school hols so might want to think about picking a cottage in an area where there is plenty nearby to do.
