Accommdation in Central London

Hi am a bit bamboozled by the options on booking.com ! We are a family of four coming to London next week for a few days (from Scotland) to do some touristy bits and pieces with DC aged 5 and 7. Just wondering if anyone had any recommendations? Fitzrovia looked quite nice but im a bit clueless! Many thanks

fitzrovia is ideal - relatively quiet but very close to tourist areas ans a million places to eat

bloomsbury & fitzrovia are both near Euston / kings cross (ie. your train from the north) and near plenty of tourist things like the British Museum.

Is there any particular thing you want to visit? if so, maybe stay near that.

Thanks! We are heading to Legoland first so coming in from Windsor then adter 2 days out to St.Albans to see family. To be honest it's all a bit disorganised as we haven't got a hit list yet - maybe one of the museums? must Google top things to do!

The Science and Natural History Museums are good fun for both children and adults. Along with the V & A, they're in the South Kensington area but that's easily accessible on the tube if you stay in Fitzrovia.

To be honest when it comes to London the difference in price between a bucket hotel and somewhere half decent is horrendous. we have always looked at it that its better to stay bucket as you only sleep there and it gives more money for going out and about during the day.

I would look on hotels.com and pick something near a station because getting around in London is easy. pick up Oyster cards as it is a lot lot cheaper than paying the fares and if you have money left on it you can just keep it until next time you come into London. it doesn't run out.

I usually look around Kings Cross for the cheapest deal without breakfast and go out to eat in the mornings as its part of the fun.

If you can get into Premier Inn County Hall that is brilliantly located, Houses of Parliament & South Bank stuff on your doorstep, can walk to Buckingham Palace, Chinatown, Covent Garden & only a couple of stops from South Kensington for the museums.

Thanks all most of the central Premier Inn were full so haggled the price down on an apartment in Marylebone. Now to decide what to do in the 2 days we have! Thanks again
