Scotland Foodie trip

Planning a foodies road trip round Scotland for week/10 days probably for mid may 18 ( picking ds up from Uni in Dundee at end )
Travelling from Wales and intend staying at Gleneagles Hotel either on way up or way back
Hoping to fit in trip to Three Chimmneys and and Loch Bay in Skye before heading up to Lochinver....any other recommendations re route or locations to visit?
( I'm originally from NE Fife but haven't had chance to explore these parts since moving to Wales 25 yrs ago, so this is a much anticipated experience!)

There is actually place called Foodie in Fife - off the A91 near Dairsie.

If you're revisting NE Fife, the Peat Inn is worth a vist.

know Foodie as grew up in VERY nearby!...and yes no fine dining there!
Have always wanted to try Peat Inn....it might be doable, and then could pick Ds up after staying there as it's only a few miles from Dundee!

I was going to suggest the 3 Chimneys based on the thread title!

Not sure what route you are planning but I can recommend Eat on the Green in Aberdeenshire. If you are a seafood fan, then try Samphire in Inveraray. You could also squeeze in a trip to Tayberry near Dundee.

Mull and Iona have a LOT of really excellent places to eat - we visit regularly and still haven't been to them all. Mull is really easy to get to and weather is generally good in May. Have a look here: mullandionafood.co.uk/

I can recommend Tom Kitchin’s place in Leith, Edinburgh. We had the food and wine tasting menu. Nice buzz about the place and informal, relaxed atmosphere.

Monachyle Mhor is fantastic. Really quirky little hotel, the breakfasts are as 'foodie' as the dinners. `we loved it and plan top go back next year.

We've been very lucky to have visited Edinburgh several times when dd was studying there , so have eaten in many amazing places....unfortunately don't think we have time to do Edinburgh this visit....
Wondering whether to head to Lochinver first ( with stop somewhere midway- hence why we thought Gleneagles!) and then work our way back to Skye... before heading back to Dundee

Also nearby St Andrews has some nice places to eat. Had DC at uni there.

Yup, been to Ondine and Tom Kitchin (twice!.... AMAZING!)....also been to Number One at Balmoral, Martin Wishart and Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles

Castlehill in Dundee is fantastic. And The Newport in, er, Newport, which is five minutes drive across the Tay Bridge.

If your going to Skye you have to go to Portree Harbour Chipper. The fish is so fresh & filleted in front of you. Oh it is divine 🤤
If your coming anywhere near Aberdeen and looking for the best Rowie (Buttery) You need a JJ Ross baker or Aitkens baker as they are the best. Don't bother with shop/supermarkets versions. 👍

The Grange outside St Andrews is a lovely little place run by a lovely couple (chef husband and wife front of house). Don't know them except for chatting when we've gone there while visiting St. Andrews but it's ace go there you will not be disappointed.

The Pig'halle French restaurant in Perth is brilliant. Totally authentic.

I came to say Tom Kitchin too, I'm going for my 10th visit next month to celebrate my 40th, I love, love love it there.

Stay in Glasgow, eat in Finnieston.

Rosyth dockyard used to do a good line in deep fried haggis.

Not necessarily Michelin starred but on recent visits we've enjoyed Gille Brighde and the Walled Garden Restaurant (near Applecross). Also request a window seat at The Kylesku Hotel. Where are you planning on eating in Lochinver? We decided against The Albannach but only because we were a family of 4 and decided the cost would be prohibitive. We enjoyed several nights at Peet's and good pub atmosphere at "The Carbafreidh" food was good but limited menu.

Actually one of our most memorable meals was at "The Old Pines, restaurant with rooms, in Spaen Bridge but this was a few years ago so worth reading tripadvisor for reviews. Just to add, to my previous post, I'd do lunch at The Kylesku, enjoy the views of the Loch.

Kylesku my favourite place to eat in Lochinver area . Caberfeidh good too.

Edinburgh- loved Bodega on Leith Walk although had a few issues with our table being given away last time we went. Aizle for fine dining.

Glasgow- Hanoi Bike Shop or the Ubiquitous Chip were nice. Loads of great places in Finnieston.

Enjoyed Am Birlinn on Mull.

Lobster Shack in North Berwick (summer only)

Also went to a seafood shack in Ullapool and had the best haddock wrap!
