Is there such a thing as a luxury seaside resort in the UK?

Just that, really. Looking for something 5* and perhaps with a private beach although I doubt there is such a thing in the UK. I would be happy to be proven wrong, though.

Does anyone know of anything? Preferably in England, but could consider Wales.

Thanks.

The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne is fabulous, no private beach but they do have an outside pool in summer

dantdmistedious · 09/10/2017 18:16

Have a look at Burgh Island.

Second Carbis Bay. Had honeymoon there as heavily pregnant at the time. Was lovely, own beach, pool, rooms were gorgeous and food was amazing. Nothing too much trouble and St Ives literally next door. Easy walk on the cliff path or take the train from the station next to the hotel.
We are planning on going back next year with the DC's

In Cornwall, Nare Hotel, Carbis Bay and - for families - St Moritz though none have a private beach. Priory Bay on the Isle of Wight has its own private beach but it isn't five star. Possibly look at the Victoria in Holkham (though it's not on the beach itself), the Gallivant on Camber Sands. Portmeirion is v special, I agree as is the Scarlett.

Brownsea I think is a private hotel for John lewis staff.

The scarlet lacks character and is adult only but the pool and outdoor hot tubs are stunning.

Anywhere in Salcombe Devon.

Burgh island hotel is fabulous and fits the bill.

Tresco on the Isles of Scilly www.tresco.co.uk/

Priory Bay on the Isle of Wight has a private beach. Though it's a nice 3*, not really luxurious.

Imonlyfuckinghuman · 09/10/2017 20:14

The warren in abersoch five*

dudsville · 09/10/2017 20:36

Okay. So I just googled "adult only hotels". It wasn't shocking stuff but I'm so naive. This is why we stay in nice cottages.

carrotcakecupcake · 10/10/2017 12:57

Dudsville Google “Scarlet Hotel Aerial View” Grin

CrabappleCake · 10/10/2017 12:58

Portmeirion hotel

Auldspinster · 10/10/2017 13:03

Whitby is beautiful, not sure about luxe places to stay though.

Auldspinster · 10/10/2017 13:04

I know you said England or perhaps Wales but Gullane in East Lothian and Troon in Ayrshire are worth a punt too.

Agnesmay · 12/10/2017 15:17

Have a look at potters resort in hopton-on-sea,it has a private beach.
We never been before but are going in a couple of weeks it has excellent reviews.

BoredOnMatLeave · 12/10/2017 15:19

Chewton Glen isn't far from the sea. Spitbank Fort etc? Although no actual beaches.

Sandbanks one is crap which is a shame as the beach is lovely
