Just pack normal clothes for British weather?

NerrSnerr · 30/09/2017 18:44

I agree normal clothes, any sportswear if planning on doing gym/ classes. I have never worn posh clothes at centre parcs. You'll probably do lots of walking so comfortable shoes.

Rosieeee · 30/09/2017 18:46

Thankyou! So it's not a place we're you have to dress up in the evening, just like a nice top and jeans would be ok?

QuilliamCakespeare · 30/09/2017 18:50

Yeah, top and jeans is fine. No pressure to dress up as most people are there with families and living in jeans, boots and gillets. Have fun, OP. Center Parcs gets some stick on here but for a certain type of holiday, it's great.

Flumplet · 30/09/2017 19:08

Plenty of lube.

GummyGoddess · 30/09/2017 19:09

Which one are you going to? Also remember to take loo paper as you probably will go through what they provide you with and their shop is expensive.

DarthMaiden · 30/09/2017 19:23

Sturdy shoes for walking about the site and any outdoor activity. At this time of year I’d also pack waterproof jackets.

No need to dress up in the evening - everyone is pretty casual so yes jeans and a top is fine.

Worth taking a torch as the site can get very dark in the evening.

If you plan to self cater it’s worth taking some basic things - I always seem to forget things like salt/pepper HP sauce for bacon sarnies Grinfor example and and up having to buy them.

The on site supermarket is well stocked but quite pricy - think M&S foodhall prices, so not an issue if you forget anything but depends how thrifty you want to be tbh. I used to take a lot with us but tbh I am increasingly lazy and just suck up the prices.

The restaurants can get very busy in the evenings (ditto the pubs for Sunday lunch) so if you want to go it’s worth making a reservation.

Finally I used the fairly new app they have on my iPhone the last few times I’ve been. It’s really good to use to make bookings, keep check on your itinerary and has a site map on it. I’d recommend you download it if you haven’t already.

Your two year old will enjoy the swimming. There isn’t a huge number of activities for that age and those there are you probably need to pre book - have a look on their app to see if any still available. When we went to the Woburn one we did a meet the owls experience, pottery painting and one other that I can’t remember. If you want to use the crèche (eg while you use the spa) you’ll need to pre book that too.

DarthMaiden · 30/09/2017 20:06

There is loads to do with your little boy Grin.

They have loads of play areas (free) where he can have fun and he’ll love the pool which has a dedicated toddler section.

You might want to think about hiring a burley bee and bikes - my kids loved being ridden around in one at that age. It’s also handy for storing your stuff in!

DarthMaiden · 30/09/2017 20:13

Just one other thing - when the kids were small I used to fill a little Tupperware pot with snacks (fruit/carrot sticks etc) to take around with us on the site.

If they are doing a lot of running around/swimming they tend to get the munchies and this way I always had something healthy to give them without ruining their appetite for mealtime.

Rosieeee · 30/09/2017 20:21

Ah great Thankyou deffo sort all that out I'm sure he'll love he loves Nature so will love the walks 😊 x

If you want to eat out at a specific time (i.e. early to suit kids) make sure you book before you go (app or website) otherwise you might find your choice quite limited...

cece · 30/09/2017 22:41

I download the app and book everything on that before I go and also once I am there.

ImpyDimpy · 01/10/2017 12:57

Remember to take towels for the pool!

QuackDuckQuack · 01/10/2017 13:10

I did the baby owls activity with my 2 yo and she really enjoyed it. I'd take something like crocs to wear when going swimming. Take 20p pieces for the swimsuit spinners to give you a chance of having dry kit the next day.

GummyGoddess · 01/10/2017 19:28

Ha, I'm also going to Elveden tomorrow! I'm sure there's a soft play area near the bar above swimming and there is a big soft play you can book. Your toddler might like the balance bikes and there is an early pool time that you can go in with little children too. There are also ducks near the beach and village centre they can watch.

Think I've only ever taken two smartish tops with me and had jeans and normal shoes on if we went out. Otherwise whatever you can lounge or run about in. Shouldn't be muddy so you won't get very grubby just roaming about.

If you're out later in the evening remember insect repellent, I get bitten if I don't spray that.

Waterpixie · 01/10/2017 19:40

Center Parcs are actually really good for GF food. There's always a section in the on site supermarket for bread etc and then the restaurants like Hucks have a good GF menu so worth checking them out.

Babymamamama · 01/10/2017 19:47

Take a couple of swimming costumes so you can have one to wear and one drying. Comfy trousers tops rainproof jacket hoodies etc. It's nice to be cosy and comfy. Absolutely no need to dress up really. Wellies or sturdy flat shoes for walking round the lakes and in the woods. I actually enjoy doing a bit of clothes shopping when I'm there bizarrely as they do have some shops on site.

Rosieeee · 01/10/2017 20:39

@GummyGoddess are you how strange! Have just packed casual clothes and a few nice tops am looking forward to it as never been before 😃 x

There is a sainsburys and tescos at Thetford. If you have space, stop off and do a shop on the way. (especially if you want to use the fire, the logs were a lot more in the Parc Market last time I went). Sainsburys is easier access-wise (and probably better) - right at first roundabout at Thetford if you're coming northbound, then first left. It also has an Argos if you need it, now!
If you fancy venturing out, Elveden Inn is a nice pub (just down the road), and there's lots of places to walk both in the Parc and locally.

bangingmyheadoffabrickwall · 01/10/2017 21:28

take plenty lube! Grin that made me laugh as wondering if it is reference to an old CP thread!
